Takara's in les cours de mont royal is alright but expensive...accessible through peel metro
unless of course you like cheaper, fast-food style sushi wheras you can just stop in good ol' Obento express |

I want to visit the cheapest places. I'll be broke when I get back home, so cheap sushi is sounding mighty good.
and spooky - you should write a book about your culinary adventures, something like "The art of seducing cooks" ;) |

Cheap sushi isn't always a good idea. The only "good" cheap sushi worth getting are take-out chains, because they have standards to follow for their preparation so that they don't get in trouble for using bad fish or something, whereas small places that are also cheap, you run the risk of getting low-quality fish, stuff that isn't washed or prepared properly, etc.
Inexpensive is what to look for, but inexpensive should not be less than 35$ for 2 people (with tip) unless your getting something really small. (Wisushi has a lunch special that's like 9$/person with 8 pieces of sushi, a soup and salad, but it's nothing fancy, 3 maki and one kamikaze roll in 5) |

I've been living off of 5$ Sushi for the last three weeks :p
it's the cheapest stuff, 18 rolls (6 salmon rolls, 6 tuna rolls, and 6 cucumber rolls)... for 5$ That kind of deal. Nothing great, but it hit's the spot. And it's cheap. I don't think there's anything to worry about in terms of safety, all the places I've been to are top notch. I'd like to find similar deals when I get back to Montreal. I'd understand it if they don't have it ... but it'd be nice if they did ;) 17$ dollars a plate is nice, but a tad expensive to make it a daily habit hehe. And it's hard to justify 17$ sushi when you know that decent restoraunts in other cities have 10$ all you can eat sushi deals :'( i want cheap montreal sushi! |

I just want my favorite stuff to be inexpensive.
Damn caviar for being so expensive! And lobster and crab and calmare and octopus and eel... |

haha...
yeah, if gourmet food was inexpensive we'd be living in some sort of freakish wonderland. The only alternative to your favorite foods being inexpensive is to make yourself so rich, money doesn't matter. Oddly enough, I've never had caviar or calamari. One of these days, I suppose. Maybe you ravewavers can have a "fancy food night" to go with this sushi night ;) |

haha, i'm down with that. I'd like some of this Fancy Sushi. How about we make this a Mid October get together eh?
That dish you described sounds insane. It'll be nice to eat something that doesn't come on a paper plate. |

What I discribed was what's on the picture I posted. :) Mid-october works. It's not the fancyest place, but as far as I'm concerned, it's tied for best in montreal, and the best is Treehouse, which costs about 4 times more. (2 ppl was something like 139 and we only had one thing of sake)
Ok, so other than you, who else is up for this? Sushi GT at Wisushi in the west island! It's a bus-ride away from Cote Vertu and a short walk, though we can take a 2nd bus for those too lazy to walk 5 blocks. :) It's right around Fairview on St-Johns, across the street from the Nickles. |

the best and most pricey:
mikado and katsura the best and less pricey: sushi maki the best in the west: (best philly roll in town) wisushi, corner blue haven (i.e. down my street) |

BEST sushi I ever tasted, Zen Ya, 486 Ste-Catherine W.
It's expensive, but the place is so nice, beef Sashimi are incredible, fish is very very fresh, they have a lot of choice, and it's so damn good :) |

By Kaizen, you mean the 2nd floor of the place, right? Because that's Treehouse. The 3rd best sushi chef in the world is the main chef for that place. I love it, it is by far the best in montreal. Unfortunately, last time I went there it came out to 139$ for 2 people, and we were going easy on what we ordered. |

Don't know if it was already mentionned but my first choice is Mikado on St-Denis. Once you know the place you have access to the Jimmy's Favorite Menu and this menu is unbelievable (dragon, Oeil de dragon...)
But mines are really great too... Oli |
