 Coolness: 158985 | Made/Ruined: My apartment. It's definitely not what I wanted. It's killing me, stress-wise. I'm still debating whether I should tough it off until the lease is over, so as to gather my furniture / plans for the next, dream place or get the hell out of here asap and pay a shitload of money to do so.
It's not THAT bad with a lot of preparation but that's the point; I'm missing my summer cleaning up a place I don't want to keep. Fuck, I don't know. |

It's more about not wanting to leave the apartment right away and grab the first available apt with the possibility of it being worse or the same. Plus, it'd be right during crunch time at work. I foresee many hardships. Either way, I lose :P |

Well, I can. The three months thing is false: all you need is to find a person to replace you, lease-wise. However, and here's the shitty part: the person who takes your apartment has the right to sue you if the apartment is not safe / in state of salubrity. Not the landlord, YOU. He can require that YOU fix / pay for repairs. It's up to you to get the landlord to do it for the new occupant. It's so goddamned stupid. So either I find someone incredibly stupid to cede my lease to or I fight with the landlord to have it repaired and stay a year. At this point, I think I'll just stay and be the biggest asshole I can be. I'll ask for everything, repair-wise. Every goddamn day, until the landlord has enough and breaks the lease himself. |

| Coolness: 163250 | Make sure everything he "agrees" to do is on paper, dated and signed.
That way if he doesn't follow up, you can go back to the regie and have a case to break the lease, and he's going to get a file. Most people don't know, but you can generally call the regie and get information on the landlord BEFORE you sign a lease if anyone ever reported anything. Or at least you could a few years ago. |
