i really don't understand how the anti gay mentality of the church can still exist.
i don't understand how anyone can still be homophobic
what is the problem?
what does it matter?

two things:
i never said there should be laws against being gay, i never said gays shouldnt be allowed to marry, i said that kids need both sexes and gay couples shouldnt be allowed to adopt, that's number 1...
number 2: yes ian, deadbeat parents, divorcés, bad people, SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE CHILDREN... if some people arent allowed to drive, i thik many people shouldnt be allowed to have children...
divorce SHOULD be illegal, that way, if a couple was getting married, theyd BE DAMNED SURE ABOUT IT.. fuck you and fred... let me think what i want... i NEVER put down anyone or anything... eat me long and hard... this is my opinion FUCK OFF!
did i ever say "Hey fred your beliefs are fucking stupid!" no, i didnt... i merely expressed my own opinion... why must you constatnly bash my beliefs? if you had a bad fucking experience and decided to take it out on your faith, dont involve me, stop being bitter, and seek some fucking help

Man.. you people do not understand what this is really about... It's not about the ceremony of marriage, you could get married in your backyard by a voodoo priest and it would be considered "marriage" to you.

It's about the government officially acknowledging your union that the people are fighting for. There are certain tax and other benefits you get from being married, that's what the people are fighting for, they want marriage to be officially/legally recognized. Denying them that is simple discrimination, plain and simple. It wasn't long ago that being homosexual was illegal, it's only recently that we have come to our senses and allowed people to live the way that they want.

As for a homosexual couple raising children, it should be treated on a case by case basis, like any adoption. I know someone who has a lesbian mother and she seems to have been raised BETTER than most people I know, she is especially more tolerant to others.

As a catholic, I have been offended by the churches stance on this issue. I'm also not too fond of what George W. Bush Jr. said about it but I'm used to hearing offensive tripe from his mouth.

dino, if your beliefs involve depriving someone of kids then it's no longer just your opinion.. this is you trying to impose your views on them.

you think gay couples shouldn't be allowed to have kids, thus if you had your way, they wouldn't have the right to have kids. which is you taking away something from them without good reason.

I'm not directly attacking you for your beliefs, though it may have come off that way, and I'm sorry about that. What I am attaking is the beliefs themselves. Any belief that involves putting blind trust in things just because you read about it or heard about it or were raised on it I am against, wether it be christian, catholic, protestant, hare krishna, jews (I don't remember the exact term for what their religion is called), raelians, baptists, muslims, scientologist, jaianism, sikhs, coa-dai, unitarianism or the church of the sub-genius.

People who need a book to tell them what their oppinions on things "should" be are fucking stupid, under-evolved and have absolutely no sence of self-reasoning. I had absolutely no "bad" experiences with religion growing up. One of my grandmother in fact taught me the bible on a daily basis from the age of 2 untill I was 5. And while she was going through it and "teaching" me all of these wonderful morals, being a young child, I wanted to know more, because I was interested. "Grandma, what does 'immolation' mean and why does Isaah have to do it to his son to prove to god he loves him? Doesn't god know everything and know he loves him?" "Grandma, if jesus was such a good person that healed the sick and the poor, why did they crucify him? Wouldn't having a great healer and spiritual leader be good for them, with all that 'leprosy' stuff they have going around?" "Grandma, why does this psalm say you should throw babies on rocks head-first?" "Grandma, why does this tell you you should kill every woman that's had a child and rape the ones that don't?"

The answers to those question, if anything, only made me realise that these people and their "god" are in fact monsters who hate and kill, not because they have reason to, but because they are told to hate. They are taught to be prejudiced.

That said, people are a lot more than just their beliefs. There are some really nice religious people out there, just like there are some stupid idiots who don't believe in religion and are also against it as much as I. No one should be judged by what they believe in, but for who they are and how they act, which, as anti-religion as I am, is how I "judge" people. Just because someone was brainwashed or is just really, really gullible doesn't make them a bad person. Everyone has their flaws, we're only human, and as much as I'm certain you will probably never want to talk to me after this post, I have to say that even though your religious, and yes that means I think you may be a little slow and gullible, you are still a really nice person and, from the few times I chatted with you when I had added you to my msn/icq a little ways back, you are someone who's very kind and generous and who has a bigger heart than most people, and that's not a bad thing.

Oppinions don't make a person, their actions do.
