Good music, lots of substance..
It's nice to know there are other people who really try to make electronic music sound "musical". |

Hi! It's so sweet to hear such good things! Aside from playing tracks to some immediate friends these tracks haven't been heard by anyone. As Jules mentioned, my name's Mike and I moved to Montreal last summer. I love the party scene in this city. I have more tracks to put up, so I hope you enjoy! Thanks again!

@trix what kind of software/hardware do you use ?

I'm using Cool Edit Pro cuz it lets me manually throw-off my beats by a few miliseconds and line up samples perfectly. (Also I think I'm too dumb to figure out how to use Cubase and Reason). I'm running CEP on my computer which has a pretty basic Audiophile sound card. My equipment is a Korg EM-1 and a Yamaha RM1X run through my NuMark DM3002x mixer. I also have 2 Vestax PDX-2000 turntables for scratching or stealing vinyl accapellos, but they're more for my bedroom dj gig.

nice! I used to make music that way using sonic foundry acid. Got one of those slapped together tunes on a compilation cd even heh

ScottyP: I've listened to your tracks and they are very solid and polished so I appreciate your kind words (thanks for not going Simon Cowell!). I'd love to get my tracks out there (as you did with the compilation) but I've always felt my tracks are more built for soundtracks than clubs/parties. I've scored for a few plays, movies and tv shows which is probably why my sound is the way it is. I just uploaded another track. More to come!

you should send some demo cds to labels... but it's hard to find good labels I have found. A lot of them are for pigeon-holed genres and only want music that sounds the same as all their other music. A lot of rave/club oriented labels are like this. You'd probably have more luck with one that did ambient or some sort of chill breaks style releases. But I haven't found any good ones at the moment. You could always go indie like I am at the momment, and make a nice cd and sell it on your own.
