the definition of a good credit rating:

you maintain a good rating by making consistent and prompt payments on whichever line of credit you have be it mortgage, loan, credit card or otherwise. if you get a card and cut it up doesnt it seem slightly counter-productive if you're trying to ESTABLISH your credit?

yeah, no doubt, but if you dont have anything to show you have good credit yet, you simply have a card, that is better than having nothing to show to a lardlord, no?
