hmm, that looks perfect, but a lil more pricey than what i was looking for...
I was aiming at spending around 200$ or so, for something used. Maybe we could do a cash + trade, or something along those lines... let me know what ballpark figure you expect to sell it for, and maybe we could work something out.

yea i really like them, but i'm just looking for a decent deal, the one i mentioned above isn't even that expensive for what it is, but, it's still a lot of money for me right now, I'd rather buy a new computer for that kind of money...
to be honest, i prolly don't even need more than 4-5 channels at any given time... so maybe i can look at something smaller... (if it exists, while maintaining quality)

Mackie Schmackie. I'll follow Databoy and advise to get the A & H. The summing section sounds way better than Mackie, same with the EQ and mic pre-amps. Soundcraft is great too, but don't touch the "Folio" series; c'est pâs fammmeux.

I have the 1604 I think, the thing will NEVER break.
But yeah I think the summing and pre-amps are better on the A & H.

mackie mixers are really not that great.
honestly... unless your mixing live bands or putting together a studio that is trying to achieve a certain sound, I personally don't really see the point of buying a board like that for home use. The pre amps are always mediocre at best and your probably way better off putting your cash into a solid firewire card with an internal mixer. heck... alot of models will even act as a mixer with your computer turned off. you could probably ebay your ass a motu for 3 bills and kill a few birds with one stone. the way i look at it is that cash doesn't grow on trees... and either does desk space.

^ he does present a valid point.
Mind you for 200$ your not gonna get much of a sound card either. I'd say that the pre-amps are probably better on a 200$ 12 channel mixing board then on a firewire card of the same value.

It doesn't worth it to get a cheap board for a studio of course, but a real board will give you a master section that is very handy (literally) plus the summing sonic caracteristics. I do not use a board at the moment, but hell, it's way less frustrating than a bloody mouse or a shitty controller that doesn't even respect the compatible protocol used to link with your DAW (even if it says so). some day [ www.triplestarstudio.com ] this baby will be mine. Well I hope so.

i also could use a consol mixer. if your selling yer old one Dialect, i'd buy it if it has 1/4 inch inputs and RCA out-puts !! :) my new sound card is supose to output S/pdif but i can't get my mixer to grab the feed.. i have this ghetto conversion shit going on right now but the sound quality is terrible.. lol.

It will work if there IS an actual S/pdif input on your mixer. I really doubt that a cheapo Radio Shack mixer has an S/pdif. You basically trying so send 1's and 0's into an analog input s/pdif: Sony/Phillips digital interface.

But that's weird, it is Spdif input protocol according to Pioneer's website.

I want a console mixer, doesn't have to be 12 channels, but something that can at least take 4 would be ideal.

If you can score something like this (there are a lot of options, i'm just using this one because it's easy to find for cheap 2nd hand)... [ cgi.ebay.com ] it's got up to 20 ins and 22 outs, it doubles as a stand alone mixer with your computer turned off and will give you much better results than a budget console when it comes to recording all your gear.

LOL it finally worked.. i need those cables your talkin about .. hehe
