You guys will be missing out in a serious way then
Not saying DnB night isn't cool as HELL but just finished my first set and I've really pushed myself and my abilities to putt this off... I don't want to come off as arrogant...but it's pretty epic. I'm actually very impressed with what I'm pulling off...very difficult set and some serious dance music |

so you actually "prepare" your set?
sry but thats really lame.. rule #1 of being a good DJ : go with the flow \ vibe

i don't think preparing a set is that lame... as long as you're able to feel out the crowd and change it up accordingly.
I've never personally tried doing it, i usually only prepare something to start with, and maybe a song or two to close with... but anyways, is it free on wednesdays? I actually wouldn't mind passing by for the hell of it, but if i DO actually go out this wednesday, i'll most likely be checkin' out my boys bday set @ koi... good luck anywho!
I'm feeling like a sketchbook! right now.. |

oh choosing tracks for ur opening and closing is totally a good thing to do .. but preparing the whole set is the gay .. no offense Cy but lots of DJs who did this in the past are not DJing anymore in Montreal. I think only Tiesto gets away with this nowadays.
that said, I might swing by before heading out to KOI to say hi to you and Maite (if i end up going out) wut time are you playing?
I'm feeling porny right now.. |

I practice with a large selection of music and bring a loose set list with multiple directions I can take it depending on the crowd
I'm certainly not going to insult my patrons by trainwrecking on stage because I'm not prepared to spin, they pay to see me... I also spend about 2 hrs per day working with my music so that I can become more accustomed to working with the my new music. With this set I have chosen some band's/producer's songs I want to include, however they're subject to change. I have also chose some songs that will be included, for I'm going to spin "I'm On A Boat" just for the hell of it. Also I am going to open with the beginning of my released mix to ease the transition. I'm up to 25421 downloads since the beginning of September (know this cause my Demonoid tracker crashed when the site went down and fixed itself the beginning of September...site's still down though & I miss it) I guess the answer would be 50% prepared to 50% n the fly? |

yup, 50 / 50
i do like Dialect, i choose my 2-3 first tracks and the ending one .
I'm feeling on a boat right now.. |

But for big gigs i like making 75% or so of my set prepared in my head. Get a good flow and continuity in it isnt allways a sure shot if u go random.
I'm feeling nye party!!!! right now.. |

The cover is like $2.50 and that includes coak check...lol
So it's pretty much free...drinks are also rather inexpensive compared to most clubs I've been to here. like shots = 2 for $6 and stuff. Originally Posted By JEE3.14_AGRICOLE

Continuity is something I pay a lot of attention to. With my style fow can be difficult to maintain, hence why I practice so much I think I"m driving my father nuts ;) |

Its like saying you're a band and you only actually practice when you're on stage in front of an audience. Trust me, it will show. How many times have you gone out and felt compeltely ripped off cause you paid $20.00 to hear some super star producer dj who can't mix, plays random tracks off his computer, obviously hasn't prepared any of his set cause he's been completely wasted out of his mind for the past 3 days? Happens more often than you think I put in at least 5 hours of preparation for every hour I actually dj if not more. That involves researching the type of crowd, doing music research, fooling around with the tracks to find what flows best, and making sure I play the best goddamn set I can. Like anything, the more work and preparation you put into it the better it will be.

Happens more often than you think agree X10000!!!! I think preparation and knowing your crowd are both equally important, and you certainly can never practice too much. Don't blame me because you're mildly retarded and miserable. Take some advice from your avatar: smoke a joint, chill out, and while you're at it: go fuck yourself with something sharp and rusty. I still have the railroad spike I used on your mom last night...wanna barrow it? But in all seriousness man, go find some one else to take you're crappy mood out on. |
