There's three different versions of the movie;
There's the one that's in theaters now, that's 10 minutes shorter and has 'daytime' haunting scenes, as well as a different ending that has some obvious CG effects There's an alternate ending of the original that's got a bit more blood and violence And then there's the original 2007 cut that played at film festivals in 2007 This is that first cut! DVD rip, no Speilberg-added CG, 10 minutes longer and the original ending from a 2007 film festival screening! [ www.megaupload.com ]

np!
It's really fucking good.. about 45 minutes into it I had to take a 20 minute break and turn on all the lights before I could keep going.. Every single sound, creak, etc.. that the apartment made had me jumping out of my skin..

Haha yeah! No distractions. Watch it alone, not at the theaters. If you do... please forget everything but the movie... forget the chick you're dating, sitting beside you, stop hoping that she will grab your arm when she gets scared. Don't look at her, she's probably being nervous anyway, as she's vigourously eating her popcorn. Forget the asshole behind you who is kicking your seat, don't think about how annoying he is, for doing such atrocity. Forget about what
I just wrote here wtf... everything... everything.. but the movie. Update » adLpz wrote on Thu Oct 22, 2009 @ 11:41pm Trust me, if you follow my advice : you WILL get scared.

yeah I already commented in the "Comment On The Last Movie You Saw" in Silly Games.
In sum, watch it with less people as possible, and avoid all reviews/previews. If you're going to see in theater, go on a dead night, like when there's just a few people. Update » Trey wrote on Fri Oct 23, 2009 @ 12:17am EDIT: btw the book the guy was reading in bed with all those pictures. I just ordered it online, yeah! |

well, this version is a DVD rip, and, even though I haven't seen the version that's in theaters, people that have have pointed out some of the differences (besides the ending being different and having really bad, obvious CG)
the theatrical version is 10 minutes shorter, a lot of scenes are cut down to make room for daytime haunting scenes, and they downplay the strain in the relationship that's happening because of everything.. This one is longer and more drawn out at times, but IMO it's good for a horror movie to really draw you in for a slow scare rather than just BOO HERE'S SOMETHING SCARY NOW 5 SECONDS LATER OMG HERE'S SOMETHING ELSE!!! Also the lack of daytime haunting scenes is a positive thing imo.. I mean, it's the middle of the day, the room is brightly lit up, and your keys fly across the room.. BIG DEAL, you can see that there's nothing in the room.. but at night, if that happened, there's shadows everywhere, and it's quiet, so you can hear every creak that the house makes.. I haven't seen the theatrical cut that's currently playing, but I really think that this is the version to go with if you want to see something that's scary, has actual pacing, and doesn't rely on a shitty CG morph effect for a "shock" ending

ah man, I told my friend it was based on a true story and she got too scared. She'll watch it tomorrow in daylight. sigh.
Okay now that I seen both version, this cut has a better ending than the theatrical release, as in it keeps pace with the overall movie. And that's all I'm going to say about the difference since I don't want to spoil anything for those who plan to see it. I'm curious about the 3rd alternate ending. |
