Yes Syria sent in troops to Lebanon, but in the context of trying to restore order after Lebanon pretty much imploded as a result of the civil war..not to mention the fact that Israel also invaded and started shelling Beirut, killing thousands of civilians..BUT that's another story
As for Syria, well I was there last summer, its an incredibly fascinating place with the friendliest people ever, but I must say its a completely totalitarian county and alot of people are miserable there..people kept asking me how they could get to canada.
Hizbollah deserves respect in that they forced Israel to withdraw from an occupied zone, something that no other army or millitant group has succeeded in doing, but now hopefully they will turn their attention to rebuilding Lebanon which is the greatest priority.
p.s. supposedly there are awesome underground raves in Beirut |
