I'll be needing to rent a place such as Cité 2000 to store my drumkit and to jam with people/bands.

- Have you heard about a room in Cité 2000 which I could rent for a long time (several years?) starting from December 1st (more or less on week)? Sharing it with other bands is ok, as usually done.

- Do you know any other place like Cité 2000 in Montréal? (for jamming, not only storing stuff)
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

you'd have to call cite2000 and ask .. i know they have a shitload of rooms in there, but they might all be taken. most bands there, like you said, share space, though that might jut be to cut costs, and not 'cause of limited rooms.

there's a place on iberville, south of masson i think.. not sure what it's like though, nor what it's called :p

and there's a place around mile-end parc-ex .. can't remember where exactly, but it smells like a hamster cage .. i also think it's an hourly rental - i don't recommend it.

i'm not sure if cite2000 does super long-time rental, again, call and ask. they'll be able to tell you. if you're just looking for someone who already has a room, and you want to share, sorry i can't help. i know 2 bands that jam there, but they're space is packed up tight already ..

good luck! if i hear of any other places, i'll let you know :)
I'm feeling you up right now..

Nathan: yeah I used to jam there 3 years ago :) bands share rooms to reduce rental costs AND because there's almost never empty rooms (it's a great place to jam!). I'm looking for a monthly rent, like Cité2000 does. I'm *not* looking for pre-equipped rehearsal/recording studios, since everybody will have their own gear and I'll want to go hit the drums just whenever I want :)
If you remember/find out something about the place on Iberville below Masson, please tell me about it :)

We had a nice place right in front of Bell Center but it might be closed now. They have very small rooms for band-less drummers to bigger lofts for (duh) bigger bands :P
You should check it out! It's a way better location than Cité 2000 if you use public transportation.
There is also a few places near Parc Metro that are quite ghetto and cheap.
Let me know if you need more info!
I'm feeling w00t! right now..

Cité 2000 is crap nowadays (no air no heat no soundproofing at all). And nop, that place in front of Bell center is still there. Much better place. I know there are some places on Laurier close to Mason as well.
I'm feeling je me souviens plus right now..

hmmmm interesting :)
The thing I liked with Cité2000 is the atmosphere and the profusion of good bands/people/friends jamming there (Ghoulunatics, Buffalo Theory, Voivod, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, Paroxysm, etc.)
Since I play very loud I'm never disturbed by the neighbors' noise :) but the stench from Molson's factory outside the building is just awful :(

I'm interested in all the info you've got about these places you mentioned (near Bell Center, Parc, Laurier/Masson)!!! :)
I'm looking for a moderately big room, able to handle at least a drumkit, 3 big amps, with some extra room for 3 people to stand up and move freely... if there's enough room for 2 bands (like Cité2000), then it could be even better!
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

yep well the place in front of bell center offers all type of rooms. for 300$ we had a place big enough to have 3 amps, a drum kit and a futon.. but no window! You could get lucky and get a better space if you check what's available Again if you need a contact let me know. Cheers!

Don't go to cite 2000 that place sucks balls, apparently you can't be there after 12? Who the hell jams at supper time anyways?

I'm at this place called MusiCube right now near st.michel and industrial. It's fucking awesome; every room has it's own alarm system hooked up to central, air-conditioning/heating, carpeting, central vac, strobe light with it's own independant door-bell outside. And the rooms are pretty damn nice, my room is huge (by huge I mean we have 2 drumkits, PA system, 3 couches, 52" Tv. Marshall Mod 4 Amp, with enough room to still pull cart-wheels)

I know a few others though, there's one on the corner of Jarry & Viau but it's a shithole (and you can't smoke in there anymore since my room-mate kinda accidentally burnt our room down)

There's another one on Balzac (not far from pie 9) and Industrial, I heard it's pretty nice since they've renovated but back in the day the place burnt down and everyone in it got there shit either stolen or destroyed.

There's another place on Hochelaga that's apparently pretty cool, but last I checked it was full.

But yo my guitarist has just decided that he's going to fuck off for Australia soon, and I'm not too sure what the situation with our room is gonna be. We actually might be looking for someone (pretty trustworthy/reliable) to share our room with.

If not I can hook you up with the contact info for the place, I'll take it down next time I go
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..
