The future is here, and it's not going to let you go back in time after all.

Also we will still have to wait even longer to go to Mars. The future fucking sucks.

QFT man. I just got a copy of OS 9 for the Mac and I had installed OS 6 on an emulator a while before that. Just so I could play Duane Blehm games (OMG I'm so obscure!).

lol, man you have no idea.. Windows 7 is the best Windows OS ever put out by a long shot, and on any version higher than pro there's a built-in XP emulator so backwards compatibility isn't a problem anymore.

I'm willing to believe that after the colossal failures of Zune 1.0 and Vista that they'll have overhauled their shit so that it's actually a worthwhile competitor to OS X (and really, why would it be so hard to be?). I would also love to find out if they actually decided that you can be a superuser without having to go through living hell to get root.

sudo kill all

just set your account as an admin and disable all warnings in UAC (exactly the same as Vista, only with less to click through to confirm)

To give you an idea how well this runs, I put the beta on my old desktop.. a 1.8gig cpu but that's been overheat damaged so I've got to clock it down to 1.35gig.. 512 megs of ram and a Radeon 9600 All In Wonder... Windows 7 beta ran faster out of the box with no drivers or optimization than a fresh, fully set-up and tweaked XP.. And this is with ALL the Aero graphic bells and whistles turned up to max..

At this point, anyone sticking to XP is just scared of change, there's absolutely no reason to stay on it.. in fact Win7 will run better on your hardware than XP as long as you're running something in the P4 or up range.

Ok... but how does it run on an iMac, as in the newer model released last year? I have a bootcamp partition with Win XP sp3 and I'm sick of the ugliness.

Well, considering that Intel Macs are considered to be the best Vista computers on the market, and that this is essentially an overhauled Vista designed to run better and faster, I'd guess that's your answer :P

yea i get what your saying luke , unix shell , it lacks that structure. but its windows, not citrix, and even mac isnt all up to what i expect of a bsd box.

imma bitch power user. if i leave my brain out of it. windows 7 and vista are super nice systems that make you feel your computer is newer than the current year or some shit. imo max osx is halfway there , but being able to compile & import unix packages ( after countless hours of tweek in some cases ) is better than their previous shame os x.x.x

but what i feel both system lacks, is better directory naming edition, and assembly support, and that means from 8bit to 64bit .

i dont like the computer world being taken out of garages and basements, this is where it originated, now why is taken out of our hands again and turn into consols rather than the everendless polymorphic tool it was made to be. and im not talking about virus im saying they are takin horsepowers away with the same engine.

i will keep xp , as well as my dos native install as well as my dosbox emu, like french exceptions obliges until they get their bananas out of their asses.

nobody talks about alphas ? sparc64 and ultrasparc ? amigas ?

there is millions of os out there , that all try to make things intercompatible, so why is the frist 2 not applying this rule and focus on destroying standards and making this a quaterly habbit of voiding stuff people actually use.

money

Why? Because we don't all want to spend ages in our basements tinkering. You may, other people may, but for some people we don't have the attention required to do so, nor the time. But I mean, I think I would get frustrated with that quickly, given how stoned I tend to get before attempting repairs, my tendency to sweat from my brow and have crusty fingers from cooking that don't deal well with small components. That and I am not too good or patient with code. Object oriented is the furthest I can really go, and I hate text and background if I have to look at it too long. Makes me think of the days wasted in front of a DOS client for IRC.
