No where else in the world fight over language (i think) but here in Quebec it is such a big deal , i don't get it....Why can't we all just speak our languages and be fluent in each language and live together no no no Most Quebecers have to have their own province speaking french and separate cause it isn't all french and they want a french only province OMG!!! Get over it already, if i am to try to speak french why aren't willing to try to speak English? i don't get it..... Bon la prochaine fois je vais assayer d'ecrire en francais!!! Get over it already, if i am to try to speak french why aren't willing to try to speak English? i don't get it.... That's not true, first of all. Unless I live in a Bizarro world, separation was never good enough an idea to be voted for on either referendums we've had. Most "Quebecois" only want a good place to live with health care and the choice to live and raise their kids to live with the culture they want. Fact remains that the biggest chunk of culture/language here is French, so it's normal if a big percentage of the population want a big percentage of French related media/products. Secondly, grouping everyone into a pack and putting the blame on them is what causes all the fighting in the first place. If you shit on French people for wanting to speak French, they'll hate you and complain more, out of spite. And vice-versa. Generalisation leads to discrimination, leads to segregation; remember that. The best way to settle a conflict is to show that you care. Don't send a bus with half Canadian / Half Quebecois flag on the eve of the Referendum and pretend you give a shit; that's like buying your wife flowers after you've cheated on her. Have Franco-Ontarians and Anglo-Quebecois together. Have Quebec TV stations do shows in English and vice-versa. People are so scared that learning English will make then forget French. Languages are tools and not excuses to discriminate. We have to show people that knowing English does not lessen the love for the French culture.

I hear u but at the same time when the kids walk down my street that r Quebecois and have a burning Canadian flag kinda Bugs me cause i am Canadian as well as Quebecois e!
I know that most of this province is french speaking and i know that there a lot of french speaking peeps that just want to do their thing, but answer me this why push the English out of the way to get it???? We live here too!!! Why want your own place to live?? Why discriminate English peeps??? Anyway this can go on and on, i have no issues with the French speaking peeps at all.....I am one! But what i don't like r the French speaking peeps that tell me i am no good cause i speak English, or ask me to speak French when they call me to sell something! or even worse when i speak french it is kinda broken and they make fun of me instead of helping me.... I love it here in Montreal and i ain't leaving Cause of this stupid language issue.....I will deal with it...I try there is a difference!

Again, Lynzyn, you generalize. You seem to think that every French speaking acts that way. Or to imply that I want Quebec to be French-only / Separate / whatever. This is the kind of generalization that causes rifts in the first place!
Yes, SOME want it. I'm not saying it's not there. But they're few, really. As far as I know, more than half the province is against the very idea, or so says the last polls :) I'll reiterate that you can only win hearts by displaying a positive attitude towards the other "side", not by telling them they're a bunch of assholes, that you're not going anywhere and for them to deal with it. Love, not blame. Update » DCRn wrote on Wed Jun 17, 2009 @ 3:50pm You updated your text.
Well, please understand that there are assholes in every language. Assholes who will jump on every difference to belittle you. It's not because the ones you met are French that Quebecois are inherently bad people. You have to stop with the "they this and they that".

Probably the same entitled extremists who beat up an Indian store owner with broken beer bottles in Centre-Sud because he had the audacity to be born in an area that had known British occupation for a hundred years and therefore learned to speak English. :( I love my province. After living for three years in the States, I couldn't wait to come back. But damn I don't miss those who hide behind the Quebec flag to express their bigotry.
