i posted this in the "old skool hip hop" thread, but guessing no one saw it, so i figured it deserved its own thread, for anybody who cared to check it out.

what you are about to hear is a small compilation of beats i made with my playstation 1, back in 99 or so, with a game for the ps1 called "mtv's music generator".

i bought it in florida the day it came out, and got an impressive 12 audio cassette library of beats made with it.

so here it is, about 22 beats in 10 minutes, enjoy!

I'm feeling like ezbake right now..

nice !
good sounds, for a playstation... sounds a little vintage, but processed, at the same time (i mean, not "dirty garage", but rather "made to sound old skool", and it works)
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

sorry, i don't fully understand what you mean by "made to sound old skool".
the way i made these beats, is basically how i still make hip hop beats today, it was just a more limited interface than what i can do on a PC.

anyways, thanks for the feedback, hope you liked some of the beats!

here's a video sumone else posted, where you can see what the game kind of looked like at a quick glance. it actually resembles fruity loops in many ways, therefor how i adapted and stuck on using FL now.

the first screen is in the "playlist" where you can configure which loops get played at what times.
then you see him going into the "step sequencer" where you can edit the notes of each pattern.

there were also many other options, where you could change the fx's in each pattern, make volume and other automations, and also click the "sampling" option, where you took the game out of the playstation, inserted an audio cd, recorded the parts you wanted, then put back the game cd, and proceed to edit your recordings. (which i used for all my hip hop beats)

this game did pretty horrible for recognition, and sales, but for young potheads like myself (at the time) it did wonders!

i remember tryin this game but even back in those time FastTracker 2.08 was still the best solution for me since i could use all the samples i wanted and tweak around with it!

oh! shit i got you wrong there man i thought you were saying you did that recently with a 1999 ps1 .. a machine made 10 years ago...

woah that's great..

i'm curious now about the rap beat you produce now.. do you have a link on a specific track on rw?

are you doing only instrumental? no vocals (beside samples)? or you get special feat. over ur stuff..etc?
I'm feeling hitched right now..
