You know where it says
location: Call this number 24 hours before event for location That obviously serves a purpose when raves are held at illegal venues. And it obviously serves a purpose when flyers are printed before a venue is secured. But whats the point of the infoline when the rave is going to be held at a legal above ground venue that was booked a while ago? I dont get it Update » Gamos wrote on Sun May 24, 2009 @ 2:16am ok well im off to what is looking to be a very sketchy event. If I dont ever come back on this board to write about it, its because i've either been killed or drugged and sold into the sex trade. I put the subjective probability of either of those 2 events occuring at 10% Update » Gamos wrote on Sun May 24, 2009 @ 2:21am ok nvm. Im just going to go the good old dependable warehouse. I dont want to be a sex slave

^yes...
also because venues in MTL are never 100% certain.. in case you lose your venue, best write tba -24h instead of having to reprint flyers. i know from experience ;) also, it's a question of laws, and even though some venues seem legal, the cops/city kind of do what they want, so it's always good to protect yourself every way possible. if your party ends at 3am, and/or is in a bar, or 110% legal show venue, then write the address, it's actually a lot better publicity-wise and in your best interest. :)

Ah i c. This makes sense. I was curious cuz some times you call the info line and its a recording which is fine. But other times you get an actual person on the phone, and so when I dont really want to have to talk to someone ill skip the infoline and just do something else instead of the event in question. So I was thinking, "wow...if a lot of people are like me, promoters must lose a fair bit of business by having an infoline instead of just posting the address" But I guess if infolines still serve a risk purpose mechanism, it makes more sense.
