cool website about exploring under ground rivers, storm sewers etc in Montreal. I only heard about it because they did a front page feature in the Gazette on Saturday about all these old rivers that got buried under concrete ages ago pretty interesting. kind of sad that cities can't find a way to incorporate rivers into the city and preserve them. my sister used to go to university in a town called Frieburg in the Black Forest in Germany - which is really cool. anyway running all through the town they have diverted this little mountain river to flow through little gutters on many of the streets. it is clean water - strict laws against polluting these water channels - even back in the Middle Ages when they were created anyway it's a cool idea which gives the town a lot of character. I would love to go back to visit here's a couple pics of those water channels |
