Hi everyone, I'm using my gf's year old Toshiba Satellite, it has an optical dvd burner.
Recently it hasn't been burning anything, DVD's will take forever to encode then the burn process never completes, and suddenly it won't burn audio cd's. I "think" I ran a check on the component in the control panels but I doubt it worked, can anyone help me out? I'm a pc noob, 100% kthx |

are you using crappy dvd's or shitty cd's???
try better ones... if that doesn't work try reinstalling your software... if that doesn't work try reinstalling your windows... if that doesn't work try buying a new dvd burner... if that doesn't work try buying a new computer. thats how i'd trouble shoot it anyway. and i'm like jesus christ but with much cleaner shaven balls.
I'm feeling republican right now.. |

optical drives have tons of moving parts, failure is not uncommon
But it's possible it could be a bad brand of disk also

Update » cutterhead wrote on Thu Apr 9, 2009 @ 1:59am ALSO : if its new . have you bother making shure you connected the burner with ULTRA DMA cable ? that kind of strip cable has them smaller in gauge on the strip. important-e! Update » cutterhead wrote on Thu Apr 9, 2009 @ 2:02am % oupse, dont bother last thing about the cable . reinstall / installing a new burning software will probably help if your registry/lib got " corrupted " .
ultra iso is a good fail safe . if you cant read cd, then forget it. clean the lens gently WITHOUR APPLYING FORCE , a cue-tip with blue windex. be shure to glare the lense so it doesnt

yup unless you smoke a lot next to it.
get ultra iso off the net, youll be able to see if its the program libs or the actual lense that burned.
