please, dont take it personal, but high pitched voices arent used in happy hardcore since like 1996, so you are pretty much talking out of your ass =)
I'm feeling hardcore right now..

lol it's not that it was high pitch!
well yes but only because they took the voice and accelerate the bpm on it, making it high pitch chipmunks voice :D
I'm feeling super right now..

hahaha this weekend I put I don't remember which set in the car, and one of those "chipmunks" song started...
My boyfriend (who is NOT a HHC fan :p) started yelling "cut it off! my head! It hurts!"

I swear it gave him an instant headhache :(

No more HHC in the car EVER again... it's dangerous!
Guess it's just not for everyone....
I'm feeling printemps!!!! right now..

this is old happy hardcore with up-pitched vocals, as you can hear, it kinda sucks.

this is uk hardcore, with real people singing, this is live in a rave in uk.

you have to know that the forever young tune, its a guy signing, not a girl.

and in the save me tune, its just pure awesomeness, even more when darren styles run into that dancer LOL

And that goes right back to the original point that I'd posted; electronic music with vocals tends to be bad, "catchy" pop-music-style lyrics.. Replace the electronic music with Nickleback-rock or RnB beats and it would be just another soul-less radio-friendly single.
I'm feeling your norks right now..

MAINSTREAM me and a friend had a converstaion about this the other day! He has been spinning for 15 years and says how even the afterhours and alot of so called RAVES play mainstream now....Another reason why i really don't go out anymore it just seems all the same to me....it doesn't give me shivers anymore!

Hey vinny,

I was surprised that you were upset by all the FX i was loading on my set at Bal en Rose, I've always geeked and tweeked Fx for that extra layer... I can understand your point of view, and though sometime subtle or no Fx are better, roaring on a system can be hella fun too...

btw mr.purist, did you notice I played vinyl only that night :D

on topic :

one of the things I've always despised over all of my years of crate digging was finding a sick choon that has a massive break down that sounds awesome... until these annoying, cheesy, shitty ass lyrics come in outta nowhere and ruin everything... a serious pet peev of mine... I collected a lot of vocal circuit house back in the 90's (i was very happ-"e" back then), but otherwise for the most part, one of the things I've always loved about electronic music in general was the complete lack of human voice...

Ufot-hehehehe, cd's eh???
I'm feeling broken in the heart right now..

Milton u r so right on that man...I remember going to Da muzz and mem looking in the crates as well and get those kick ass beats only to be dissapointed by a cheezy vocal and be so dissapointed cause the track was awsome until then...And then put it back in the crate only to move onto the next cheezy break down vocal crap...But that was the 90's but there r some great tracks still floatin around out there from the 90's

hoose Choons Everytime is one of the ons i like.. Can't remember the artist though, Milton do u? That is from i think 1991 if i remember correctly

vinny hasn't posted in this thread yet...did my avatar confuse you, or are you really just directing that at him, or are you talking to an entirely different vinny? i'm confused :S

either way, since what i wrote was similar to what you seem to be responding to: i really don't have a problem with ppl using effects, it's just the phaser i'm sick of - and it tends to be lazily used. good DJs, like yourself, use the effects properly anyway, so i'm not worried...

and i'm no purist, just traditional in the way i play, but i'm glad you played records only :)

btw, i would've loved to hear your set saturday, but i was mixin' in the other room :( ...haven't seen you in years, and didn't even get to say Hello!

-->phasing high pitched vocals: do two wrongs make a right? :p
I'm feeling you up right now..
