Does anybody know how to unlock a cellphone?

ive got a SAGEM my220x who is locked to europe virgin network.
that cellphone use litle microchip like card like those fido cellphone..

how does it work?

do i really need to pay?

who can i pay to unlock the phone?

ive read on the internet that this is a matter on entering a code is there a different code for each cell?

Can electronik master Cutterhead help me on this?

if it has a simcard, you can prolly just switch it out for a diff one
otherwise, why'd you buy a locked phone? (assuming the worst, this IS [ rave.ca ]

It depends what sort of phone you're using, but I believe you have to reformat using a program called DaVinci or something of that sort. I was trying to do it a while ago so that my phone itself didn't have all the shitty Rogers-bundled mp3 players etc. on it, and so that I could change SIM cards with a minimum of problems. Never did it though, ended up with a Blackberry and a better plan by bitching efficiently to Rogers.

depends, my old Nokia, all it takes is a code that you type in

Go check on howardforums, and search for your make/model of phone
or jfgi!

unlocking a phone just means he can use it on any network... Usually fido or telus lock their phones to only accept a SIM coded for their network; unlocking it lets you use the phone YOU bought with whatever phone service you want!
