Stupid UQAM with their teachers on strike! You should have seen them all packed up inside the doors to make sure we don’t get to class. IT LOOKED SO RIDICOULOUS!! Like, something a 4 year old would do to make his parents feel bad because they didn’t get him a cookie. I mean, is that a way to be dealing with those things???!! Urgh. C’est tellement ridicule. And I still have to go to school in caaaaaaaaaase our “chargé de cours” manages to get inside his class because they are supposed to be giving those classes and I live far and it sucks. *grumbles* |

 Coolness: 93825 | ya profs getting 10years doesnt happen so much anymore, and being a hired gun teacher sucks, no benefits, no job stability... not very motivating for educated well to do people... its a sign of the times, personaly i side with the profs on this one, they should be earning more money and have better conditions, they are teachers...

How things like Health and Education, which are of the utmost importance to our society, are always hanging on by a thread, while some other questionable institutions are given blank checks. indeed... we're currently having this problem in france, too... universities have been "on strike" for 2 months, with several demonstrations of over 10,000 people each time (which is huge for the group of concerned people). the problem with being "on strike" for us is double ; (1) as a researcher, if i stop working then it bothers mostly myself and my own career, and (2) as a teacher, if i stop working then it greatly bothers my students, which are already more or less directly concerned by the general political problem... that's why i go to demonstrations but i do research and give my classes anyways... but some colleagues don't, and i understand them ! |
