its called the ring.

just made by a philipinian director, he was the one who announced the " the rings " at fantasia.

ill try to wiki the guy up..

it might have an other name thou , but same story, better picture , and honnestly SCARYER

maybe [ www.imdb.com ] , but give me time to be shure im pulling the right one,

this was back in 2000 or 2001

im not getting it , either its RASEN and i confused the producer saying it was released at the same time in the philippins and was instant succes.

but really i was all sober , an i distictly heard him say phillipinian remake = 1st one.

and he gave honour to the one making the originals, so i feel a little weird seeing that i cant

google it up right away...

so im suspecting this or it has an entire other name on the cover, but all personnas are there.

if you can find fantasia listings of 98 to 2001 im shure you will find the real name.

and sorry for not being presise on the fantasia festival i attended to , i am bad at year dates.

I think it was Rasen, Rasen was a sequel to The Ring filmed at the same time as the first, but by a completely different team of people.. It took the aproach that it was more of a virus or something, and that watching it tested you to see if you could be a reincarnation of Sadako or something..

Also, I think they "explained" that she was thrown into the well because she was a hermaphrodite and it was a guy that was in love with her that did it.. I think it was Korean, not phillipino..

man i saw too many of them , im starting to confused what happened in witch or the other,

but again , the remake of the first one is almost exactly as the first one, kids in cabin,
they speak the tale of the violated / raped / beaten / telepathic freak by her [ mother or boyfriend ].

it sound a lot like the one screwhead just talkabout, but then again that could have been the sequel i saw right after the remake i saw first.

damn i need to pull that fantasia listing with the dragon on the cover of 98 99 or 2000. gawd if only i could have screen shot.

Rasen was a "sequel" released at the same time as Ringu as a marketing stunt.

The "virus" plot is from the original book that the movie spawned from, but it was ripped out of The Ring and replaced with a more "supernatural" horror.

Can't find anything about a Filipino remake though.

But as we're on the topic ...

i want to add, that this :

i wanted to see the ring one and two.

but at the counter they told me ring one was sold out, but not the philipinian remake.

so i went for the remake & ringu 2 .

and i remember the producer was being invited before the projection to present us his movie .

his speach said philipinian remake too.

so this is pretty surprising to me that i cant find shit on it...

i remember him saying it was as famous as the jap one over there...

again if i could pull the fantasia listing i could point it right away.

damn no pictures ... no listings ...

FanTasia 2000

The 2000 edition of Fantasia featured the debut of the Just For Laughs film festival, Comedia, as a selection of comedy films were shown with the regular Fantasia fare. This was also the final year that a Toronto edition of the festival was presented.

[edit] FanTasia 2001

The 2001 edition was the last held in the Imperial Cinema. It was also the last time the festival was jointly held with Comedia.

i would have to know with of these it was.

i saw it in the theater next to music plus. im starting to think this was in 99-00.

if someone can link me a montreal fantasia presentation magasine / schedule from theses years , that would make at least 2 people happy.

ill go fish it , hope ill bring good meat.

found it

according to : [ www.horschamp.qc.ca ]

c. Fantasia also presented The Korean remake Ring Virus which is, unfortunately, a pale imitation of the original. It reverts to

it was korean

imo better than the original , and totally anihilate the american one.

the producer said he added hair , and blood, broken finger nails details than the original.

i personnaly liked it, and i said i saw the second , but thoses pictures on that page of ring-0 looks like i saw it too, so im starting to think i havent saw 2 but 3 of them that year.

0, 2 and remake
