Does anyone know the story about them and can put them in context with the rave scene? Ive spent all day reading about them and Micheal Alig etc. Whatever happened to them - are there still club kids in New York? It totally reminded me of Circa, and then I saw that the guy who owned the clubs owns Circa too.

Hows are the club kids related to the rave scene? Like except that they did drugs, and dressed up, and listened to EDM. Were they influenced by the rave scene, or was raving influenced by them?
I'm feeling apathetic right now..

anyone recognize this one?
[ en.wikipedia.org ]

Lisa Edelstein aka Lisa E also known for her role in House.

Everyone was a club kid at some point, if you we'rent, you we'rent popular or liked by
celebrity scenes in NYC, it was a fact.
Lots of them went on to do big things, like some of us will or have already, hence the rave seen being
full of fail and win. You choose your own path bucko ;)

paris hilton used to hang out w/ some of them and in their events/club night as well.
\
not surprising she collaborated later on w/ the house of heatherette..

i met richie rich at shampoo in philly in like 2005. he was nice and still fabulous but i thought he indulged to much on botox..

larry tee had a night for a while when the electrotrash was big(if not born some says..) in my former neighborhood of brooklyn but it's seems dead since a while now..

my husband played at the tunnel who ran a little after the drama...

i feel since 2001 something is death anyway in the city..

i still i've been to huge & small crazed out party with the biggest names ever for like a 5$! it's pretty incredible..

There are still club kids in NY, and actually, u can book them to come and perform in your town. It's something I've actually wanted to do, if I have the money for it one day. You automatically get James St. James, dj. Keoke, dj. Juicy Jay (who's the orginizer) plus a selection of others to choose from. And I found out that Kelly (who does shoes on youtube) is one of the ppl you can choose, plus this band I randomly discovered and like called ultraviolet sound.

I'm feeling groovy in the heart right now..

Im just confused as to how they all fit in with the context of the rave history ... I can't tell if they were part of the rave scene, or just part of the greater EDM scene that was either influenced by raves or influenced raves.

The movie was somewhat remiciencent of Factory Girl, which made me wonder if they were just kind of social-lites filling the andy worhol void. So that at the end of the day they were clubbers with rich parents ... the music aspect being secondary to the social aspects and costumes

Or were they just part of the progression/evolution of the raves from the warehouses and fields to legal venues?

I wasn't really into the scene when I was 8 y/o, so its tough to amalgamate it with everything else Ive learned about the evolution of the EDM scene ... I suppose Im confused cuz they're presented as a pop-culture club phenomenon, which kinda makes me think they were "above-ground," which maybe I have trouble associating with the rave scene.
I'm feeling apathetic right now..

Well I heard somewhere that club kids actually WERE the best of the ravers that were hired by clubs to attract ppl. I dunno how accurate that is.. I just heard it somewhere.
