Description:
What if you watch a film and whenever you pause it, you face a painting? This idea inspired Reza Dolatabadi to make Khoda. Over 6000 paintings were painstakingly produced during two years to create a five minutes film that would meet high personal standards. Khoda is a psychological thriller; a student project which was seen as a ‘mission impossible’ by many people but eventually proved possible! The video is amazing, but I'm not sure I get the "whenever you pause it, you face a painting" part...

This animation reminds me of Katsuhiro Otomo's animation Cannon Fodder. It's not 6000-paintings, or whatever, but the half-hour video is all done in one long take. No editing. When you watch the Making Of the animation, they show you that the camera pans over an incredibly long roll of paper with all the drawings on it --which gave the video it's stylized effect. I'm sure it has been done before, but it's still impressive to watch when you know what it took to create it.
