What This Sort Of Site Really Needs

We need a musical collaboration page, with hosting ability for small wav/aif files. Sample trading, remix exchanges, stuff like that, categorized slightly but mostly by thread. The possibility to host audio snippets or whole files if necessary without having to play them through the radio function, etc. This section could host workshops for different genres of music as well as provide a boost to local creativity. That would truly feed the so-called scene(s), not this b.s. chatting about moral values for a non-scene.

I had a few ideas here and there about how this could be organized. Noah, could you do it? Would you? If not, why not?

Also, producers, do you care to invest time and energy into something of that sort or does it benefit nobody? Is this the wrong place for it?

Discuss. Like adults please.
I'm feeling totally pitted right now..

That sounds like it could be a pretty cool idea, but the logistics of co-ordinating something like this might be a little much.. Everyone uses different DAWs, VSTs, etc..

I'd be down for trying out something like this, but I dunno how easy it would be for people to all adapt to each other's style of doing stuff..

The hard drive on the server is getting full... A second server with 320gig HD and a lot of bandwith (3000 gigs a month) would be 69$/month. If someone could find the funds, I'd be able to make a site which can do all that. We don't need a super powerfull server to host files. Which is why it's so cheap.

How many gigs of samples do you propose to have?

Well find a way to raise 69$/month and I'll setup a sample server... I could maybe put asside 10gigs on this server for that but... It's really full the HD since I'm hosting MODLAND and other stuff...

hosting aside , you get 3 ppl investing 100$ and vola, 6 ppl 50$ ,,,, anyways you asked how many , now lets do with the how much.

anything a 300gb could do the trick , but forget broad wav storage , that thing will fill up in a week
