this one , its pretty confusing to differentiate pure chip tune and an cheeze mod. imo it falls in when the sound is palyable into console with the end user material, AND/OR compatible console sound AND/OR payed on a limited vintage ddl oscillator sound generator. i know what it is , and i boils my mind trying to explain the pio from a pentium isnt very different than an atari one... nut because u run on 6502 or the actual sound chip of the console i would limit myself calling it so there. it has more exception than the french language ! |

imho trackers are chiptune. but purist would go down to the atari SALLY chip then end up saying chip tune , its totlally retarded... its just a racist view of music, but then again music is about esthetics. audio / imaginatory esthetics... I love 8-bit sounds. But not the whole track, that's just... well... why not just play Nintendo all day, you get the same sort of mind-numbing effect that you get from that sort of lo-fi crap. It sounds like crap, because it is. 8-bit. Do you want to still be forced to use only 11khz 8-bit samples again, like back in the day on FT or ProTracker? Didn't think so. It's a useful sound as an instrument but it sounds so gay when the drums are little air farts. |

It makes me fall asleep and dream that the best I can do for graphics is a smiley little guy who jumps funny. At least the Fire Man stage is still rather nice. But those drums, they're awful!
I like lo-fi as long as it comes out at high quality. Does that make sense? Experimental music with good mics, that's still lo-fi but it comes out crisp, like you're in the room. Nanoloops is fun but it's only one texture. But I mean if you think my stuff is lo-fi... well... you probably haven't heard it, like most people. Maybe I might want to host a couple of the newer tracks on this [ rave.ca ] radio but it's sort of moot for me. Seems to me like everyone on here is waiting for the next candyshit explosion and chiptune reeks of candy and never growing up while doing drugs non stop. |
