I totally agree with Screwhead, the thing is, this movie is coming from someone who is part of the scene(no offense to the guy, he seems quite nice) so he should focus on, I dunno, the music, the vibe, people's styles, the way they dance... there are so many subjects to choose from. Drug is the obvious one, but why would you make it your main focus? there's nothing nice about seeing people gurn and chew their faces off at Picnik at 2pm and talking shit on K...

Personnally, I find it very discourageing to see another documentary about the rave scene so focused on drugs(from what I've seen so far). most people who are ignorant about raves already think we're a bunch of desperate drug addict losers who only care about getting trashed and have no goal in life, it would've been nice to show other aspects of the scene. I think theres so much more to it!

And to give a bit of constructive criticism, the quality is terrible. Looks like it was shot with a normal DV camcorder. Maybe U need a 3CCD if U wanna make a movie? Or wotever broadcast quality material it is... I find that some scenes are too pixelated. :)

This "movie/documentary" is just the kind of thing that you're going to see exerpts of on the news one day durring one of those "This is the fad that's killing our kids!" segment. Parents will not aprove of their kids going out to parties, and people won't want to go out to parties if they see the horrible example that's being set in showing what "our scene" is like.

Fucked up people or high people are always there and it would be a lie to not show that, it's a part of the thing.

That is a good point, indeed, It seem to me that the focus is not only put on drugs.
N e way, I just think that this movie ( or this bunch of trailer ) , are more like picture or remembering, that a film or documentary about the rave scene, I don't have the impression that this is gonna be a reference to show what is the 'party' scene in Montréal. It's just a guy who decide to put is souvenirs in movies.. my two cent

I see your point darling, but it just seems to me that he clearly wants to show that most people involved in the rave scene are drug users who have no clue what to do with their lives. I didnt see anyone claim their love the music and that go to parties sober. If you're gonna interview a bunch of pill heads, U gotta at least interview sober kids! A lot of us party drug free ya know!! (ok I'm no saint and dont party drug free ALL the time, but mostly) Have you been to a rave?? Didnt see to me you did from the info on ur profile. I started raving in the 90s, and I can assure you that it's truly not just about drugs! Believe me, people who arent involvved in the rave scene are waiting to see proofs that we're a bunch of whackos with no lives.

This is why I think the idea of a movie about Montreal raves had tremendous potential, however, it wasnt used properly. For instance, I think interviewing people about how they started raving (the reasons why, what attracted them in the first place) coulda been very interesting. What draws ppl to it, what they've been through to end up here. Cause a lot of us have been thru traumatising shit, which is why we felt the need to join this big family and yes, sometimes gets whacked on a bunch of drugs to relieve the pain... but everybody knows that so no need to show it more than 1-2 minutes... at the end or something.

Just my opinion.:)

It seems to me that the trailer only represent Destructiva own experience at raves wich is unique. If the guy only take extasy and bond with everybody indescriminely thats fine for him. I think Rave is a personnal experience anyway wich differ from people to people but that doesnt mean tha we can split those experiences from one another without deconstructing this rave thing and render it meaningless.
For example certain people are in it only for the music and they look down on pills taker, fine. Some others only do drugs and run around ladies, fine also. I mean this is only an exemple on interest people may have in rave but if you split them apart its meaningless: stoned people dancing without a DJ or Passionate electronik music lover spinning alone in its room or underdressed teenage girl bouncing around without any 30 something guy hooked on peter pan syndroma. I just wanna say that i dont think this projekt will ever get to something without a narrative string and if it would have one, it would look alike other raves movies that where shot in the late 90 and at the beginning of the 21th century. Otherwise it would be like a documentary, but you would need a theme like : a djs life or drug use in the montreal rave scene wich bring us again to something that was already done.
in conclusion i would add: partying is fine but there is not enough meaning to all of this to shot a movie about it. anyway if such a movie would be shot anyway it would end in some third world country in a terrorist training camp as some propaganda AGAINSst the decadent lifestyle of western country while the childrens on cambodia works in phats pants and plastic jewelry factory for a bowl a rice a day....

i want to add this link to some rave filmography

The movie is about people taking about the rave scene.

It's not actually ABOUT the rave scene.

:D

At least I think that's his point. Otherwise, he's very not clear on his intentions. And his release forms!
I'm feeling happy right now..

be carefull he's gonna send you a mean 2 pages long pm..

when the movie is going to be release i'll watch it because i can give a chance to all projects. i'm really open/ but yeah i'm confused w/ the promotion of it. he have the chance to have a portal here on rw. noah seems affiliated or give space for that movie on this site. i would use it in a efficient way. i mean for the moment i see web-sites w/ pictures and very long trailers. there's seems to have no narration. or no direction to that project.

anyway i should stop here if i don't want troubles
I'm feeling hitched right now..

How about interview some of the people who have been going to a variety of parties for a LONG TIME, meaning those people who are still partying because they didn't crash themselves on drugs, and therefore don't need to quit the scene because of the association of parties=drugs?

I am raving for over 7 years now (I'm 22) and I never got into loading up on drugs (which is more than can be said for the majority of the bar scene), I go for the amazing energy rush, music, artwork, and community. People being on drugs do not bother me, but I find it REALLY annoying when people assume that I'm on drugs because of this stigma that is being perpetuated that all ravers are on drugs...

I THINK WE SHOULD STOP PERPETUATION THAT FALSEHOOD. Show a different side of the party scene that not many people on the outside seem to know about... OTHER reasons that we go to the parties, other than drugs (if there were no other reasons, surely everyone would just do their 2CT37alphaB pills at home). That would be something meaningful.

Maybe we could make a movie about the government's wrongful oppression against raves that has dissolved the scene and molded people away from the lifestyle and philosophies (in most places), and how Quebec is interesting because we have for the most part been spared of that here.

I grew up for the most part in Calgary, which is where I went to most of my parties. The government treats raves very differently there and I don't know if everyone in this scene knows how lucky we are to have it the way we do. Maybe a movie about progression of the North American rave scenes (including the Rainbow Gathering, for very juicy recent history involving the government) would make for an incredibly interesting documentary/movie.

Has anyone done an up-to-date movie on this?
I'm feeling ?!!!?????!?!?!!!? right now..
