after freddie mac, fannie mae, now aig... it's getting serious.

at the same time we live in an era were it is at government advantage to install a climate of fear for a better control.

i'm not an economist but from what i ear of the package who finally passed today in dc..
(both mccain and obama voted for..) these guys are taking big decision. the worse is that the average mass don't even really realize what's happening, what are the impact..ect i found also a lots of people who don't even care!

actually i think it's crazy that this happen during one of the most important election ever. just today i meet 4 folks who tell me they are not gonna vote. they just feel totally lost and prefer even abstain themselves than giving their vote to a democrat!dannnnmmmmmmm

i really don't know what to think anymore.

i suppose sarah palin would say: " darn, i betcha that we are in deep shit! " :)

Another fucked up situation... Lehmann's CEO says that he was one of the only companies at that time that wasn't given any sort of aid package. AIG got one, as did a few other companies, but somehow, the government didn't find it important enough to save us from this crisis...

That's just gonna IMMUNE us even more.. think about it. It's about fucking time the CDN dollar falls where it should be so exports are worth it again.

Ugh. What is it with people using this line of thinking? A weak dollar is good for businesses that export and bad for people!

I'm not the well versed in all of the happenings going on in the market, but isn't Canada an exporting country, and by having a weak dollar ensure that we will continue to export to the U.S because they'll be able to afford it, which will result in people keeping their jobs?
That's a good thing, right?

Yeah, it ain't bad per se, though with the US in a recession, who do we export to? 60+ percent of our exports (in that ballpark anyway, too lazy to look it up) usually go to the US...

And yeah, it's bad for me, no more snagging deals on ebay for a while ;)
I'm feeling chaotic right now..

It's good in the same way that it's good that cuba gets tourists to keep the tourism industry in business, yes.

People keep their jobs, sure, but get paid less and are more restricted in what they can do. With a strong canadian dollar, all of us are more wealthy. With a weaker dollar, we're all poorer.

e.g.

weak canadian dollar: book that costs $50USD costs you $70CAD, problem is, your paycheck is the same as the american's paycheck.

strong canadian dollar: book that costs $50USD costs you $45CAD and you're making the same amount as the American.. meaning you can buy more books.

This applies to everything you buy since much of what we buy is imported. computers, electronics, fruits, furniture, toys, cars.. we import them all, and with a weak dollar we get fucked in the ass.

don't buy into the bullshit, with a strong canadian dollar canada is a stronger country with more wealth. how many of you have jobs that require exporting anything? mine doesn't, nor does anyone I know. if the dollar gets stronger and exports go down, i will not lose my job, nor will anyone i know lose their job.
I'm feeling pompous right now..
