[ www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca ] "The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) gives consumers a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls. The National DNCL Rules introduce new responsibilities for Canada’s telemarketers." Certain exceptions do apply to the free service: * Canadian registered charities; * Political parties, riding associations and candidates; and * Newspapers of general circulation for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions. It takes about 31 days for the companies' lists to be updated with the new info. If they continue to call you after that, you may file a complaint which makes the company liable to a 15.000$ fine. I encourage all those that are tired of getting bothered right in the middle of supper (especially by those lazy pre-recorded ones) to register their phone numbers. |

 Coolness: 2749315 | People will start calling from other countries then... With VOIP you can hide your number pretty well. I think you're giving away your phone number if you use this list... We will see how well it works. For sure my number is not going up there. |

| Coolness: 153730 | Yeah, I agree that this regulation has boundaries and since it is a government organ, it can only control what's inside the limitations of our borders. But that being said, I don't think this could actually harm or accentuate the amount of calls you're already receiving.
As for those using VOIP (never heard of this before, good to know), all you really need is the name of their enterprise. It isn't really that hard to dig up some info with a shred of information nowadays. Don, je ne pense pas que les sondages vont te gosser, ils ne tombent pas dans les d'exceptions. |
