No, the tip is not MANDITORY, it is CUSTOMARY [ en.wikipedia.org ] , just like Christmas or Easter; most people do it out of tradition, but it is NOT something that is legaly enforced in ANY way.

And you want to know where the service fee gets payed? It's called YOUR PAYCHEQUE! Or do you work for absolutely NO money, and 100% of your earnings are from tips? Because THAT is illegal. Making and bringing drinks to people IS YOUR JOB, you should DO it, quickly and efficiantly, EVERY time, and MAYBE people would feel that getting service so fast and from someone so nice and friendly means they deserve a tip. But the "Well, it's a tough job and I don't make much money, so I'll only do my job properly if people give me extra money" is absolutely bullshit, and that is EXACTLY the attitude that I wouldn't tip.

Like I said before, which you seem to have completely ignored; TRY that shit at any other job. I DARE YOU to tell your boss as a secretary that you didn't print out the documents he needs for an important meeting yet, because "well, you didn't give me a tip for doing every single task _my job_ entails, so I'm not going to bring you your shit on time."

it'S mandatory HERE IN QUEBEC.Esti what wouldn't you understand? you are not stupid.Around the world they have other practice, but here it's the way it work since : le gouvernement charest imposed us to declare 8% of the sales

As for the *paycheck* 1 bar on 3 doesn't give you anything *BUT THE TIP*.How much do you think i get paid to work at saphir? nothing! but what the customer gave me.Or at Vinyl it was 25$ for the night + tips.On the cavalier Maxim,i don't complain as much cuz like you say i got a paycheck. And they put the TIP FOR SERVICE ON THE BILLZ already .ANd No it's not illegal at all.So i care a bit less. But 3/4 of the bar doesn't give you a pay check. We can see you had never work in the bar scene to talk like you talk Screwhead. So no if the customer doesn't tip me and i have to pay 4% by sales to pay the bussboy you are sure if you don't tip me i won't serve you anymore. That's how it works ,you don't like it? just don't go out.

Merci Bonsoir.

You should maybe learn the laws regarding your pay then, and give this a read: [ 9to5ers.ultracrepidate.com ]

Tipping is NOT manditory, and if you get less than 8% of a tip from all your sales, your BOSS has to pay you *EXTRA* (as in, on top of your MANDITORY PAY if you're working for an establishment) for it to come up to the 8% you will get taxed on.

Oh, and I spent 3 years working in a Brasserie from 99 to 01, and I can honestly tell you that I got all of TWO tips in my entire time working there; once I was give 5$ 'cause the guy had no change, and once I was give a 20$ bill from someone who was drunk and almost forgot his wallet on the table.

Like I said, you need to read up on the laws of things. The links to the ACTUAL GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS are at the bottom of the link I posted in the last message. Here they are again, since you don't seem to want to actually know what you're talking about: [ www.revenu.gouv.qc.ca ] [ www.revenu.gouv.qc.ca ] [ www.revenu.gouv.qc.ca ]

If you actually take the time to read and understand what it says, tips are NOT MANDITORY. What IS manditory, is that if you've made less than 8% of your TOTAL SALES back in tips, then YOUR BOSS/EMPLOYER is supposed to fill in the difference to make it that you've made an EXTRA 8% ON TOP OF YOUR SALARY.

If you're working somewhere without a salary, well that's just your fault for being fucking stupid, because a SALARY is manditory for working somewhere. If you're not getting a salary, then the only possible options are that
1: you are working on commision, and are given a % of your sales BY YOUR BOSS in the form of a paycheque
2: you are working as a contracted employee, and then YOU tell the 'boss' of the place where you are working how much YOU charge per hour or per day for your services.

ANYTHING ELSE is illegal, and if you're working somewhere for NO PAY, only tips, then not only are you fucking stupid, but you're actually working illegaly; the place is obviously not listing you as an employee, which means that THEY aren't paying the 8% tax that the government requires, so YOU'RE getting fucked out of money by THEM, since you're declaring the money you make from tips in an establishment that doesn't provide you with a paycheque.

L'employeur qui perçoit le pourboire doit le remettre entièrement au salarié qui a rendu le service. Le pourboire comprend les frais de service portés la note du client, mais pas les frais d'administration qui s'y ajoutent.

that's from your site Noah. LIke i said,we can Put it on your note, but we don't..Would you guyz prefer higher price including the service? cuz it would change really nothing since,if you are short a penny this time,it will be on your note.Think about it

I'd rather 8% be added to my invoice... I like the European way of this is what you pay and that's all you pay. Nothing more, nothing less... My 3.00$ beer will become 3.24$. This is what a tip should be but people get offended when they get the right amount and not 8x more.

With the European way you can also get commissions on every drink you sell which is paid from the owner as a bonus. Since everything is included... No need to start a petition, more then half the world already works that way.

And here you are, bitching about getting more money than what your salary is SUPPOSED to be. Like I said, try that shit at ANY OTHER JOB, and you would get FIRED.

You don't even know the "laws" about tipping which you seem to pretend to be such an expert on, and I'm sorry but talking about something you know nothing about and pretending you're an EXPERT on it IS STUPID.

So, yes, I fucking DARE you to come and break my neck if I ever see you. Fucking TRY, and your pretty face won't ever get you another fucking tip for the rest of your life.

And THAT is the way it works, and THAT is what I don't have a problem with. Good service, friendly waitress, whatever, I'll gladly tip. But if it takes me 10 minutes to get a drink at a bar, when there are clearly people coming after me getting served first, the waitress/bartender ain't getting SHIT, because I wasn't served properly and in a timely manner.

But the whole "Well, it's a hard job, you MUST tip me no matter what I do" attitude is what doesn't fly.

and what is your fucking problem screwhead.you are attacking me cuz you got problems with other bartender before or restaurant.I never said anything wrong to you. What i know is it's been 2 years i'm paying taxes crazy and you are insulting me cuz i work illegally. At least i can pay my taxes that way.I like my job,not everyday like everyone. You don't want to tip ,fine. But I'm not *all the waitress and all the bartender of the wor;d.If you get any frustration in your own life ,stop sharing it with people who never did nothing to you.Are you working? no ,so wtf ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.I'm working hard and i do good money. If i have problems with my costumer sometimes i just don't serv them and they don't c0me back.We live in qc ,and it's not because everything is not writting that you can act like an asshole and don't tip and get the bartender or waiter pay to serve you,it's not correct. As for me ,i always get really good tip,i'M not complaining on my personal view.I'm just telling people that the tip you give to the bartender is separate with the bussboy and the taxes .If you don't feel great in your life, bashing on other people cuz they have another opinion than yours is fucking lame. What is your problem? if you need to fight ,find someone else.I don't need negativity in my life
