hello all i m planning on buying my own cd dj's. I was wondering what brand eveyone thinks is better Pioneer or Vestax i have a budget of 550 per cd dj...I want new....I am kinda surfing right now and Vestax has a higher price, i know it is a great mark but is it any diffrent than the Pioneer.

I am new at useing these machines the cd age gives me no choice i am a turntable dj usually, so what would be good for me any suggestions Vestax or Pioneer.

are the other brand that bad? i mean because theyre is a huge price gap going on here!
i saw one for like 200-300$ i think a cdj100 is 400 cdj200 600 and cdj1000 800 *(these are all approximation made under influence)
so yeah i saw some pretty cheap ass cdj that didnt even have a proper jog wheel but what should we be looking for and why ?! i know i always loved pioneer and I so want a cdj 1000 or cdj 800 but hey I gotta buy a new computer but whatever just help us figuring out because I wanna buy some too :D
peace
I'm feeling ob <3 scene kidz right now..

i have a budget of about 1000$-1200$. It will take me while to save up but it is worth it...

But used i don't like..i bought techniques mk2 for 350$ each about 2 years ago and now they are all fucked up an i have to fork out cash to get them fixed, even though they r used i would say they were not in bad condition and not old, so i thought!...For now i use kinda crappy techniques and getting a cd collection, so when i do get cdj i will have music..If that makes sence?

Yeah, i mean, isn't soo much cooler to have to buy a laptop with a decent sound card (approx 1000$) + get extra digitaly printed vinyles (30 - 60$'s each) and lag all that into a humid environement at all your gigs, only to have your PC crash durring your set !!

it's so much easyer than to just bring a CD case, plus you get to look like your doing a LIVE act !!

Down with trends, up with traditions !

if you have a stable computer, serato wont crash, you dont need to buy a sound card cuz it comes with the whole kit which end up costing a shitload less than two cdjs 800s...

carriying around a laptop.. you get a whole lot more than the equal weight in cds

as long as the cdjs are wiked ass like the pioneer 800s etc, then yea, bringing cds would actually be easier. and in terms of how much music you can bring... how much would you typically need in a set? i can play a whole gig with 4 cds of singles LOL.

serato of course is amazing too tho, but there IS always a risk of the computer getting damaged.

anyways, to be on topic here, the best cdjs ive had the chance to use were the pioneers.
i used a vestax one and it worked fine, i just didnt like the jog wheel as much. cuz on the pioneers, u can scratch on the top, and use the side to speed up/slow down the track.

the one thing i wish they did more, were spin like a vinyl.
for scratching reasons, it makes things less natural, compared to a turntable.

i saw some denon ones tho that DO turn... i'd like to try them

I'm feeling your nuts right now..

I had the chance to try the Denon.
They're pretty cool! Rough to use cuz if you wanna slow down without stopping the song, you gotta put your nail and not your entire finger but they're still cool. I prefer CDJs 800 though.

not to mention the potential damage it can cause the motor on that thing if you stop it excessivly. i mean, unless it weight's a ton like the SL1200's, i doubt the motor is built to last.

pioneer's till i die !

mmmmyeah... i dunno... depends on the set... if im just playing one style yeah... like a dozen cds will be more than enough. but if im playing a bunch of styles, its pleasant to have as much as physically possible to be able to have all tracks that can make decent transitions and all...

but anyways, pioneer ftw

2 cds can potentially equal = 160 minutes of music, 4 cds can potentially equal = 320 minutes, or 5 hours or so.

if each cd is a mix cd, that you burnt specifically for a gig, with different artists etc... then whats so boring about that?
I'm feeling your nuts right now..
