While the words themselves have no "evil" meaning, it's the personal identification to the said word that is interesting. To me, holocaust has nothing to do with the death of jews (the words wasn't even used for that before a couple years had past, after World War II). But to a Jewish person, he'll go screaming if you don't use it with extreme reverence. Well, mostly. I'm generalizing (a thing I don't like doing). Same goes for the other words. Nigger as a word only refers to a colour and a ship. (To me) In any case, if the people being insulted by the word are using it themselves, what does it say of the word itself? It is less sacrilegious? Or if not, who decides which people can say it without being insulting, and who can't? It's not the word itself that is the problem, Blisss. It's how some might use it. Personally, I think it is more insulting for a black person to be using the term than for anyone else. Because for anyone else to use it, well fuck, discrimination exists and will always exist. We fear/hate what is different. But for a black person to use it and denigrate his own history... Same goes for fag or spic or whatever. |
