Postal, Uwe Boll's controversial magnum opus, was awarded the "Best of the Festival" prize at this year's Hoboken International Film Festival.
"When the fans speak, we win!" said Vince Desi, executive producer on the movie as well as CEO of Running With Scissors, the developer behind the Postal series of videogames. "We know this from our experience in the game industry and now the film business just confirms it. The continued success of the Postal franchise in all its forms is proof that democracy works; you cannot stop what's in the hearts of the people. Freedom will always triumph over tyranny."
Boll's latest confection was originally planned for release on only four screens following the cancellation of its distribution deal, although later reports claimed the movie more than tripled that number to a 13-screen debut. A free showing of the movie at Hoboken's Pier A Park in early June reportedly ended with more than three-quarters of the audience walking out before the end of the film. Hoboken Mayor David Roberts, host of the H.I.F.F., refused to attend the screening as the result of a scene mocking the 9/11 attacks against New York City.
Nonetheless, the movie was nominated in five categories as a result of its festival performance, including Best Supporting Actor for Kids in the Hall alum Dave Foley, Best Editing, Best Screenplay and Best Director. In taking the audience-selected Best of the Festival award, Postal beat out cinematic experiences including The Noogies, In the Eyes of a Killer, Predator's Return and The Pack. Boll also captured the Best Director award, in exchange for which he allegedly promised not to punch anybody out.
Each award includes a $500 cash prize, which will presumably form a significant portion of the funding for Boll's next movie.
LOL
Im confused. Did the movie of the girl shaking ass...did that win 500$? Or is the clip and the PR unrelated? Fuck, ill shake me ass on you tube for 500$
all completely unrelated... other than the fact that I saw the girl who was shaking her ass on TV, because she managed to garner 4 000 000 hits on youtube, and in the same segment, the hosts mentioned Uwe Boll's achievement - which I knew Fred would appreciate.
Whatever.. I enjoyed the shaking of the ass.
