I really couldn't stand House at first because it was said to be the "revival" of the genre but I got to appreciate it as a homage to the genre. It's nothing original but the movie emulates the genre pretty well. And Sheri Moon Zombie... I'd kill for her :P |

I actually found Devil's Reject to be much more "commercial", which is why I didn't appreciate it as much. Or perhaps I really liked the fact that House of a 1000 corpses really showed Rob Zombie's unique "filming" style. But if you want to be taken seriously enough to, say, have the contract to direct a certain slasher movie remake *coughhalloweencough*, it's the thing to do to establish yourself. What I loved of Devil's is the gradual change of feelings towards the characters. When the movie starts, you find the family disgusting and the cops are the good guys. At the end of the movie, you hope Baby will escape the sheriff and when the movie ends, you're like..."wtf am I feeling right now?" :D Though Spaulding was a hell of a lot more interesting in the first. Otis was best in Devils, imho. |
