Pot And Dreams

so i haven't been smoking the wacky weed for months now because i'm away from canada and it's not really worth the trouble here, it's expensive and not really that good, plus you go to jail for even the smallest amounts here...
So because of this non pot smoking i am now having dreams all the time when i sleep and really vivid ones, like last night i dreamt that i was in a desert and running out of water and really thirsty, it was really real...kinda of strange. According to a lot of stuff i've read recently, when heavy pot smokers stop smoking you start to dream again, something about the pot gets in the way of your brain chemistry reaching the equilibrium necessary for REM sleep. My question is this, does anyone else have any information or experience with this i'd love to know more about this from other people.

same thing happened with me when I stopped smoking.. For 2 or so weeks, nothing.. but then every night, the most vivid, crazy, fucked up dreams you could imagine.. It's like I'd built a dam and everything was building up, and stopping smoking just ripped it out and let all the dreams and weird shit come flooding through.
Even now, almost 2 years later, my dreams are incredibly weird and vivid almost every night. And, oddly enough, I've noticed that eating salsa (weather in tacos or with nachos) seems to make my dreams even weirder and more vivid (I actually experimented with that to see what happened) It's fuckin' weird as hell.. But hey, it's like a free movie every night! The trick is to learn lucid dreaming, so that you can recognise you're in a dream and steer them the way you want them to go.

I've done that a couple of times (lucid dreaming), and each time i started flying. Very cool

everybody dreams several times everynight ; but the memory of having dreamt is another thing, for sure... any kind (well, most, at least) of drug impedes the conciousness in dreams, and the memory of the dream.
i think pot is one of the best examples for this, i've experienced this difference several times too, after stopping for a long time.
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now.. |

Dont know about rem sleep equilibrium and such, but i get a more restful sleep when i dont dream, or cant remember them.

Same thing for me, I "think" I have better sleep when I don't dream/remember it. But I gotta admit this potential lack of rem sleep scares me, it's the most important, most relaxing sleep you can have, it comes and goes every 3 hours... I wish I'd have more info about the pot vs rem sleep.

I've been doing fine with 6 hrs a night.
Meditation and positive mantras are the secret to quickly entering into a more profound and restful sleep.
