I dunno.. When I was at the Fragilty 2.0 concert, me and everyone I went with pretty much unanimously agreed that it was the most dissapointing concert we'd ever seen.. Zero energy, and everything sounded so thin and lifeless..
I'm feeling useless right now..

nope, after that show (99 I think it was) is when I pretty much lost all faith in NIN.. I didn't like The Fragile, and was hoping that the live show would change that, but it just confirmed that the band and singer that was once the angriest person on earth had gone soft.

Even this new album.. it's alright, yeah. It's better than most crap coming out, that's for sure (AND it's free!).. But is it something I'd rate along with Downward Spiral? Broken? Pretty Hate Machine? Not even close. At this point, I just get the impression that Trent is so desperate to get any kind of recognition that he's got to go to the point of backing The Pirate Bay or releasing free albums just to get people to remember who he is.. He's not relevant to music anymore, and he's just trying to cling onto a legacy that he let slip away when he cleaned up and got behind the piano.
I'm feeling useless right now..

In all fairness, how many ppl out there now were out there 20 years ago? And of them, how many have not changed?

Oh, I know.. I know that people have to evolve at some point, you can't stay angry, drunk, stoned and in your 20s for the rest of your life.. But why is it that every time a band/artist "evolves" into a new sound, that usually means that they go out of their way to make radio-friendly music with no balls?
I'm feeling useless right now..

that's why bands like Skinny Puppy, KMFDM and Ministry prevail.

I really dont know. Unless they pull a radiohead and lose half their fanbase by goin off on a genre bending tangent, it seems to be the natural progression of talent =[

Yeah, but not mainstream radio.. Closer and to an extent Perfect Drug were the only things you'd hear outside of 99.9 (before the emo/wuss-punk takeover).. Things like Sin, Wish, Gave Up, you wouldn't catch that on "daytime" radio, just like you wouldn't catch any NIN videos (other than Closer and Perfect Drug) any time but Much LOUD!

Now, every new NIN video/single gets squeezed into daytime rotation along side bands whos name all contain numerical references and weekdays in them, and IMO that's not a good thing.

The Great Below, And All that Could Have Been, The Fragile, Hurt, Closer, Gave Up, The Only Time....I don't see a single track on any post-fragile album that compares to these tracks (note that I haven't listened to anything after Year Zero).

I'd like to see them live, but I'd hope they'd play a lot of the older stuff...Eraser, live with the cinematic screen, was fucking orgasmic.

I wasnt sure either about him going political and all... so many douches have gone political in the us that the movement lost so much integrety in my eyes... but trent did manage to do it with style... i though year zero was lyrically nutz, the whole concept of it is amazing in my opinion

otherwise... my gosh... have you listened to "still"... it is post-fragile godness no questions asked

as for with teeth i personnaly loved the three last tracks, especially right where it belongs, it was crazy to see that live... i hope they come back
I'm feeling sinus right now..

Oh, forgot about Still. It sure is a great album. But it's part of the Fragile Era.

Right where it belongs is the same concept (with a different subject though) as Hurt, the difference being that Hurt is way better. I'm not saying that With_Teeth sucks. It stiil is a nice album, but is nothing compared to what NIN released before, in my opinion.
I'm feeling ecstatic right now..
