Exactly. I personally think using statistics to prove a military point is pretty damn heartless. " Look, we canadiens have killed less people than americans ". What does that prove ?

That we are smart enough not to kill more people than we should ? What if these numbers prove we canadiens can't shoot for shit despite ACOG scopes and laser sights ?

Wow. Those numbers wouldn't be so flattering anymore, would they ?

Oh and MAX, about the rules of engagement... In your 4 years of service, how many times would you HONESTLY say you've seen this firsthand and saw an officer being relieved of duty ? How many times have YOU personally disregarded a superior's orders because you thought it was pretty fucking stupid, was congratulated for it and gained respect from your peers ?

How about psychological reenforcement ? You know, cases where, confronted by daily warzones, your judgement is blurred by all those mines and mortar shells exploding near your camp, a clear lack of sleep, tremendous stress and pressure from your superiors, to a point where, after having been told numerously that " this village is actually an afghan terrorist training camp where children are tortured and women raped over and over again " to a point you start to actually believe these villagers deserve to fucking die.

I'm not ready to exclude the " human " factor in this equation. Regardless of all your training, nothing can prepare you to life in a constant line of fire. I don't have to be in the military to know that it's a lot easier to be level-headed about making good and bad decisions sitting on my ass comfortably here at home than running around in a sandy Afghan village with 100 pounds of gear at 42 degrees Celsius with only one mag left for my C7 hearing arab insults coming from Lord knows where with your back pressed against a crumbled wall splattered with blood and the lifeless body of a 14 year old kid slumped at your feet.

And dude, I respect you and all but I'm not going to drop the subject because you claim to be an " expert " in all things military, if that's ever possible. See, I'm an expert at having an opinion, offering constructive criticism and trying to understand things that don't make a lot of sense to me, I've done it for the past 38 years.

Point taken.

I'm officially relieving myself of command here after giving the order to take down an innocent soldier just doing his job. I am scheduled to be executed by firing squad sometime this summer. It was nice serving under you and have enjoyed my service. While it lasted.

Honestly Max, my comments were not directed at you, by the way. It's all good. I also know soldiers have actually saved a lot of people in return too.

That prove that we take more prisonniers that we kill enemies.

Q:That we are smart enough not to kill more people than we should ? What if these numbers prove we canadiens can't shoot for shit despite *ACOG scopes and laser sights ?

A: Actually, the scope is a Elcan C79 optical sight 3.4X.

A: hehe, I already saw a Warrant(40 years old, 4 missions overseas) swearing after a noob lieutenant(21 years old, just started) cuz he was not doing the job by the book.

Q: How about psychological reenforcement ? A: Were trained to act and think under heavy stress and shitty situations(try the infantry training for fun, haha). Nooo! in our army we do not practice the thing we call "Black Psy-Ops" a.k.a Brainwashing, on our troops or on civilians(canadian or not),im not kidding, its really illegal in Canada. Afghan people as been 40 years at war(British, soviet invasion of 89, civil wars and Nato), dont think villagers are dumb! When they saw Talibans taking position in the village and the Nato forces coming in the horizon...they leave, they know it's gonna blow. Anyway, we have rules of engagement whatever the situation.

A: Dude, I knew what was waiting for me when I joined the forces, I can assure you that nobody forced me to sign something. I know the risks and I

Well, you've got a much better chance of having something actually happen if you ask Joe Pesci than if you just look up to the sky and ask it to help out.

of course Max, my info are good. Geo-politiks and environment is my area of expertise. sorta. I just know random stuff, anyways....

I'm aware all about Blackwater ( [ www.blackwaterusa.com ] ). Blackwater is the most powerful mercenary group in the world. But they are not the only Private Military Company. Aegis ( [ www.aegisworld.com ] ), a British Co, has the contract for the Green Zone in Baghdad. That was a 293 000 000$ contract. There is DynCorp, Triple Canopy, etc...fucking KBR ( [ www.kbr.com ] The war in Iraq: there is not only money in oil and reconstruction. There is $$$ in security and war support.

A contractor can make 600-800$ a day.

Blackwater has, of 2007, 2 300 private soldiers serving and can call up to 21 000. The funny thing is like any business, there is a need to make profit. So why not hire ex-soldiers from 2nd and 3rd world countries ( with really bad human rights record ) for cheaper, such as the Chilean commandos from the Pinochet regime.

I understand why any national Army would hate or dislike Mercenaries. After all, they make so much more money than a soldier for the same job. They aren't restricted under ANY laws. No military or civilian court if you screw up, you just get fire and send home. A lot of them are ex-Special Forces from different countries, so the PMC are well trained. The Army gets all the heat and hate, while the PMCs aren't even known.

Best of all, most people are oblivious about them. Nobody knows shit all about what happened in Fallujah. Basically, to conduct an unpopular war, without being accountable to its own citizens and laws, the US has created a massive market for PMCs.

Like i said, who needs an Army when you have PMC who can do it for you, cheaper, and nearly unanswerable to no law.
