No drama... just SHUT THE FUCK UP. Ok?

If it's lasted this long without problems, then there's no reason why it should continue to. But I think it would be better if the address was known but not discussed. We need a name for the place perhaps, but really less attention is better. And I'm content to say our loft is huge but I never want to associate anything I do with the word rave, unless it's to promote it on this site. Sometimes it's just a fucking party. It doesn't have to be called a rave, that's like the gayest word in history anyway. Look at me, I'm raving! Wow, I'm raving so fucking hard! Wow I've never raved like this before! Wow, I won the rave!
I'm feeling lofty right now..

Wow, so no-one has ever heard of this place before? There haven't been tons of parties of all sorts there (lots of which have had cops show up at since there's a station close by)? It's not exactly like this is a new location/venue; I'd say that everyone who's been out "raving" since before 2005 knows what the place is and the address off by heart, along with which lofts/floors are the ones that usually have parties.

A place like that doesn't take long to get spotted by police so a thread like this isn't going to change anything. After that, it's just a question of tolerance...

man, the place has been on the radar for YEARS. A while ago when I'd told my dad that there were parties at some lofts on williams street his answer to that was "is it 1619? They used to film movies in the space before it got turned to lofts and they'd have parties there every weekend on the unused sets", and this is going back to the late 60s early 70s.

The address was posted in the events calendar, so its already in the public domain. And the "party" was called Project PLUR for chrissakes, you can't get any more RAVEY than that. Raves may be gay, but if so, then you're living in the bigget fag-hole in montreal!

it wasn't their party, and trust me, it was the farthest thing from a rave vibe despite the name, like it's been said 20 million times before.. it was just a big house party.. that cost money if you were into happy hardcore and went in the "main" loft.

It's about disguising house parties as raves which gives them an excuse to make people pay cover at entrance. Also, the cover revenue plus the "1$ a day for weekday chilling" is used to pay rent.

Um Lone Star, quit lumping everyone into the building into the same category. We did the room downstairs, we had speakers and mixer and turntables going the entire time, we had beer, we had space, we had plenty of happy people, and we weren't using any profits to pay our rent. Nor will we be for our upcoming party. We are paying the DJs, and we need to pay for equipment. Our loft was not officially involved in the Project PLUR concept nor will we be. Nobody in my loft likes the idea of having ravers drop in unannounced on a regular basis, and we don't like the word PLUR very much, nor the concept really. There is no "disguising" of house parties going on. It is a loft party, and will continue to be so. I will not be calling it a rave. Not a chance. But the people most likely to attend are a) willing to pay for the event because the lineup is worth it, and so is the space, b) largely connected via the "Ravewave" section of this site, and most importantly c) think that your DJ set sucked, and really only deserved tiny speakers. May you have a legacy of tiny speakers henceforth, asshole. Now SHUT THE FUCK UP or I will rearrange your internal organs and feed them to you. CUNT.

No I'm not done and I don't care how much of a shitstorm I'm opening up with this. I don't want to be lumped into this RAVE category by any sort of association or by any mismanagement on the part of our neighbours... but anybody who can throw house parties successfully should do so, and there are no rules for that. I don't know why if you're so disappointed you don't start a little fucking parade in the middle of town with placards and you can play your awful freeform HHC nu-nrg bullshit all you want and see how many fans it gets you. Fact is, you suck so bad you can only get tiny loft spaces. Sucks to be you, douchebag.

it's DBN003 - the double pack... came after the Amplification and Interference eps that he did... I saw him play in Winnipeg around the time that record came out (show called bRave New Assembly with ESP, Hyperactive, JethroX, Mr. E-Tones... basically the Drop Bass Network and Minneapolis Disco Family Plan crews)...

The Magnetic North record he did was Rattlesnake. I think it's #10... solid record, but maybe not as good as his release on EXperimental.

Apparently Woody is now a Holistic Music and Wellness Trainer...

Wow... I guess I was at school when all the drama hit...

First of all, that was fucking hilarious!

Second of all, I don't think anyone here is bashing all the people in that building, far from it. If you opened your loft to the public and had DJ's playing without charging cover, then all the power to you. The criticism in this thread was directed specifically at another party that happened the same night which charged cover which some people found inappropriate, given the size of the venue. I wasn't there, so I can't really comment as to whether that criticism is valid. HOWEVER you should be aware that, rightly or wrongly, when you throw a party in your loft ON THE SAME NIGHT as when other lofts are throwing parties, some people may MISCONSTRUE the situation and assume that its all one party and therefore associate your loft with whatever happens down the hall. Unfortunately, that's just a risk you might have to stomach as a price of living in an awesome building.

I didn't see Laurent Ho until Furthur '98, but it was worth the wait. Him, Richie Hawtin and Steve 'Silk' Hurley headlined the mainstage on Saturday... I played mainstage at, like, 2am on the Sunday night. Fierce from No U-Turn was supposed to play right after me, but he never showed... he ended up being replaced by Woody McBride - which was pretty awesome.

I'm just wondering here, I live in a huge loft, plan on making a party and possibly charging because I gotta rent sound from Moog, pay some DJs and possibly hire security (I kid you not, last party we threw some assholes stole/broke our shit and we had to kick their ass and I didnt have much fun)

If we do end up charging people 5$ a head are we gonna end up with drama from broke ass ravers? Cuz like LukePeril said it aint gona be a rave... A DnB party yes, but by no means a fucking rave, not like I want a bunch of cracked out people @ my place the next day ya know?

Personally I prefer these parties to any kind of rave and $5 is just fine especially considering you'll rent sound and pay the dj's.
Unless Peter has something to say about it again ;P

This is my project PLUR. There are many like it but this one is mine. My project, without me is useless. Without my project, I cannot pay my rent.
