For the oldskoolers.

Some pics from Noize (RIP). Noize was a record store that I used to manage. It was right beside Saphir and was a regular meeting place for djs around town. Great store for dnb, breaks, funk, electro and generally eclectic. It closed around the turn of the millenium as many others have since. Enjoy :)

Afrika Bambaataa buying records from me, once in a lifetime experience :)

Scissorkicks, mindblowing breaks dj, made the cover of the Hour, first out of town nu skool breaks dj to play this city (at my night the Grill). He subsequently choose the Grill to record a breaks mix cd that was distributed worldwide.

One of the infamous Noize instores

Those were the days

Noice one, brudda.

Never had the chance to visit but it looked like a decent store. Why didn't I hear about this before ?

It's always when it's too late you find some gems like that. Damn.

The funnest part of my job was playing music all day through the speaker downstairs,

I used to pick the freakiest records and then watch people's reaction as they walked by lol,

They also used to film pornos above the cafe across from Second Cup,

Dunno if they still do now, but what I saw was pretty shocking

Dr Noh was from montreal, for the record.

Noize was great - Tony and Sharon were/are true music lovers. Hamish, any pics from the first location on Pins?

also remember Double A & Twist, and Jordan's "The Session" dnb nights at Purple Haze? Make some noise inside!

Noize had just begun the process of shutting down when I moved to the city. Picked up a handful of records there during the last few weeks they were open (tail end of '02)... too many stores have disappeared.

i remember when the pop shop on st lau, moved up the street, couple years ago...

i was walking home pretty hammed after a monday night at the blue dog, and noticed 10 or so people all crowded around a pile of junk on the sidewalk...

as i got closer, i noticed there were hundreds and hundreds of old records, just waiting for to be thrown out....

a lot of them were too moldy to bring home, but i remember taking home at least 30-40 records that night...

but before i did, being drunk and all, i was shooting them aimlessly down the street like frisbees....man that was fun!
I'm feeling your nuts right now..
