Host, as much as I like you man, you just rammed your foot so far in your mouth it ain't even funny. I haven't been to a goa party in years, but after dnb/jungle it is the style of electronic which I most enjoy. Now to get to the point, I was very active between '98 and 2001 and goa DJs would mostly spin vinyl, some used CDJs, but not that much, plus I saw quite a few mind-boggling live sets.

In the end who really gives a shit what you use to play music at a party? All that matters is that people are dancing and having fun. To be quite honest, unless things have drastically changed, goa/psytrance parties are filled with smiles and good vibes, there ain't much hating going on and I respect that.

Maybe you should listen to some Shpongle, smoke a nice spliff and try to let go of the negativity, you might actually enjoy it.

P.S.: You can play it on your 1200 if it makes you feel more manly ;)

I think I know a lot fucking more about it than you Frank. Thanks.

You can't even name your producers or dj's that spin with tech 12's so wtv. Why bother responding?

and, unfortunately, if you look at DnB these days, you're NEVER going to find an international headliner who plays vinyl. It's 100% CDs, from The Upbeats to Dylan to Subfocus to John B to Klute to Fresh.. The only one that still plays vinyl is Andy C, and he plays pre-pitched dubplates anyways.

And with all the vinyl getting ripped and put up on soulseek and deepbassnine and in IRC servers and on newsgroups, you're gonna be seeing less and less vinyl because no one is buying it anymore.
I'm feeling fuckin' crazy right now..

I'm trying to say that if the end result is people dancing and having a great time no one should even fucking care.

You can spin vinyl (and you;re pretty good at it too), great for you... doesn't mean everyone has to follow that path.

well, compare the two.. 2 CDJ 800/1000s are smaller and lighter than 1 1200.. In a CD book the size of 20 records you can fit 128 CDs with up to 80 minutes of music each.. A 12" at 33 can only hold about 15 minutes per side.

For DJs who play internationaly, they have to consider the weight of their shit. If you've got something that's more than 10-15lbs or bigger than a certain size, it can't go into the cary-on, it has to go into the hold. And I dunno if you've been keeping up with things, but it's happened FREQUENTLY that DJs traveling that have a record bag in the hold end up at their destination with records missing.

Playing with records, also, you can't just finnish a track the night before a party and have it on a dubplate the next day (for the most part), whereas with CDs you can burn a track and test it out on the crowd right away.

Vinyl is great, but at this point the only thing that's really keeping techs in the clubs are scratch DJs and serato/FS/Torque, and serato/FS/Torque are one of the major reasons that vinyl is dying, because at 15$ + tax for 2 tunes compared to 2-5$ per tune on juno/beatport or free downloads off soulseek or torrent sites, no one is buying records anymore.

i'm a psy dj... got a couple of plates... mostly dubstep and some techno

i spin em at home on piece of shit numark belt drive tables cuz im too broke to buy tech-12s... i did throw a couple on seb (galasky)'s decks (tech 12's yes) last week and had wicked fun with turntables that accutally let you mix.... you can ask seb or audrey if i am or not able to mix vinyl

i sure as hell wont spin psy on vynil cuz its only a very very small minority of psy labels that releasse 12" and they all suck... otherwise there is old school goa on vinyl... and it all sucks... if there were decent psy singles coming out on wax i might buy em.... but then again... for 15$ you either get 2 tracks on vinyl or a full VA on cd so what the hell is the advantage of wax at that point? I love the plates i have cuz i cant find em on cd or net or whatever but when you look at it... for all i know, everyone in uk is spining that dubstep on cdjs anyways
I'm feeling like a killer robot right now..

Calyx and Teebee also play almost 100% vinyl. I understand that turntables are becoming obsolete, but i'll be fucked in the ass if you can't rely on them incase something fucks up. Like oops! No cdj'S! What are you gonna do? Play vinyl or Serato, no? Don't know how? You aren't a professional dj. Sorry.

But that's completely beside the point. People are mad about the title of this party and want an answer = P

What's going here?

uuuuh... same could go the other way... show up at a gig and no tech-12s... or the needles are fucked... or whatever... in fact there are a whole lot more reasons why the tables would fuck up than the cdjs

Calyx and Teebee also play almost 100% vinyl.

Teebee only uses vinyl for scratching.. As he posted on Dogs on Acid a while back, he ALSO pre-pitches all his tunes to 172bpm in Ableton before burning them (which is why the mixing at Calyx and Teebee was tight and fast as fuck, no need to beatmatch), and 90% of the stuff they play in their sets are unreleased dubs, which aren't cut to dubplates anymore thanks to CDJs.

Pioneer CDJ-800s or 1000s are the standard contract clause for every major DJ minus AndyC these days.
I'm feeling fuckin' crazy right now..

The industry standard is the full set up. Two Tech's (doesn't matter if they don't bring vinyl, they have to be there anyways) and two 800's or 1000's and the allen and heath xone with 4 channels.

And wally, if you can play vinyl, you can most likely play on cdj's, that's a given.
What are you doing spinning out if you can't switch up if needed be? If there aren't
turntables at the party, it's most likely because 80% of the dj's playing play PSYTRANCE!

i cant imagine an international dj unable to spin on turntables....

wtf????

what the fuck is going on these days!?!?@

the top of the line cdjs are dope, dont get me wrong, and convenient.

but theres just a way of life about vinyl digging, track manipulation, and i dunno, its like back in the day when you bought your favorite artists cassette. when you pop it in your walkman, u listen to the whole album, from side A to side B, where the tracks that you didnt buy the album for grow on you, and learn to love the whole LP. theres just more value to your purchase, something you can hold in your hands...

i'm drunk, and not too sure what my point is here, but something about a dj who could "spin" cds, but dont know what the fuck to do with a vinyl, really bothers me...

as if im getting old......fuck you!

besides that, anyone else gonna avoid the fact that this party's name is wack as hell, and try to change the subject and defend the party, and say how its going to be amazing, good lineup etc etc, without critisizing the damn EVENT NAME, like the thread suggests...

fuck your psycadelic plur bullshit, gimme sum answers to the questions at hand...
