In 95 this resulted in a huge backlash against it, and like any fad, it became unfashionable. don't get me wrong - I love good oldskool ragga-jungle - i've got loads of very good ragga-jungle in my crates. the new stuff just doesn't do it for me though. probably because it is made by white people. LOL. in Toronto when I would get booked, more often than not they'd want me to play ragga - it's great.. but after hearing 5 hours of dred bass and amens and angry patois vocals, it becomes redundant. back in 93/94, ragga would be mixed in with atmospheric, dark, piano hardcore tracks - all in one set. there was no such thing as a ragga-jungle DJ. I think it's a real shame when I talk to people and they think jungle got it's start in ragga - it just shows me they really dont know or respect the roots. yes quite a few original junglists in London were of Jamaican ancestry - but they were out gettin mangled on MDMA at acid house raves - not at reggae soundclashes. and just as many original jungle producers were pasty-skinned British people. that's what made it beautiful - it wasn't about being white or black - it was a London thing. so I really don't appreciate when later waves of jungle fans try to "Jamaicanize" the music. it's got nothing to do with Bob Marley or Beenie Man or Rastafarianism - jungle/D&B grew DIRECTLY out of the acid house/hardcore techno rave scene in the early 90s. period. as for the whole difference between jungle/D&B thing - meh - I am not even gonna touch it - good music is good music L |

The main difference between jungle and drum&bass is that it uses different letters. Oh and one of it is actually 3 words in one.
So there. | |

good music is good music
thats it liam 10 000 points bro!! Music is like the human race, different communities..bla bla blahhh * In the psy scene you have people who prefer full-on from israel some like full-on from russia. some like morning prog, some like only ambient chill, some like tribal beats with musiciens In jungle,d&b (call it what you want)parties some people prefer d&b others old school jungle some prefer ragga others like rock samples! A promoter has to cater to all these realities to make everybody happy! Good luck ZED !! Oh and Jah gets booked because firstly hes an easy going guy and personally that it what comes first when i book sombody !!! BLA BLA BLAHHHHHH...................BLAH...! | |
