I think I'm missing something, too. I have no idea of what exactly Sophia (nor you ^^) tried to say, but...

... I can say (again) that pointing fingers at religion for all the worlds (violent) problems is far from fair. I am sure we can all agree that violence has always been apart of human history, and that, certainly, religious groups have played their part in contributing to that, although, we cannot deny that other groups committed similar crimes in a proportional scale.

Really, I have a hard time understanding how so many people can spend so much time and energy on hating on all religions, based only the fact of its' relatively violent history, meanwhile other atrocities go on without mention? If your beef is with Violence and Brain Washing, why don't we have more threads about what's going on in Darfur, or how cultures get squashed, etc.?

I'm beginning to think that people shit on religion more for personal reasons (with the use of WEAK examples), to simply... I don't even know what.

Don't get me wrong, I am not religious, but I do respect peoples points of view, and can understand --with out believing, necessarily-- in God, but one thing that turns me off is the constant insulting of people who believe in God and those who, cocksurely, and arrogantly, reject everything that relates to a higher power, or spirituality --which is something I find common in this forum.
I'm feeling cool right now..

I'm not implying anything, Moondancer. I was simply stating that I might have misread. 0_O;

Anyway, as far as Anonymous' stance, their main problem is that they're all unknown people; some of them can be real fucktards. The main consensus seems to be this:

Religion is free. Faith is not based on monetary value. The church may ask for donations and charity but cannot demand to put a value on faith and holy books. The moment a religion demands money, it becomes a business. The moment it is a business, it should lose both it's religious rights and the tax exemptions related to said business.

Scientology, in the terms applied, is a business. Therefore, it should not claim to be a religion and should not be exempt of taxes and rights accorded to people of faith.

At least, that's the best I understand of it.

On the other end of the spectrum, the CoS has asked the American government to help and jail the people responsible for the DoS attacks. However, the problem is that 1) there were too many people doing it and 2) as seen from the number of people in protests on February 10th, the biggest parts of the movement seem to be from outside the US. The US already has enough to deal with in Iraq and related countries to start investigating. So nothing's been done.

This is the news for now. Supposedly, something's coming up for tomorrow, as it is Valentine's Day.

Their main goal at the moment seems to be the spread of information concerning victims of the CoS to the various other religions, so as to add them to their ranks. They also want to start deprogrammation sessions.
I'm feeling weird right now..

***Well, China has about 5 times the population of the US, and less than half the crime rate. Clearly they're doing SOMETHING right.***

Heard about Tibet yet? ;)
The government wants to assimilate them. lots of Tibetans are disappearing, maybe put in camps or being killed. Or both.

Yeah that's probably why the reported crime rate is so low! Ha. Anyway Tibet is only the tip of the iceberg, they've kidnapped and murdered plenty of people in their own country for being members of the Falun Gong and god knows what else.

Here's some more on things Scientology related, just to help get a message across.

[ xenu.net ]
(the most amazing part of this one, that I've now confirmed and couldn't believe I never heard about before, is that Charles Manson took over 150 hours of Scientology training, and the left scientology because they were "too crazy".

Think about that for a minute.)

There's also Operation Snow White [ en.wikipedia.org ] and Operation Freakout [ en.wikipedia.org ] that I'll bet isn't something they want the public reminded of.

And here's a documentary on scientology put out by the BBC (it's in 4 parts)

Oh, but that's right, they're just "missunderstood" and not violent at ALL. They've NEVER threatened or intimidated anyone to shut the fuck up, let alone never killed anyone, right?
I'm feeling fuckin' crazy right now..

I' check the video's later cause i like
to see what haters come up with!
BASIDINi i dont think there was ever
a church of scientology on cote des neiges
the church has been on papineau since 1978
i think and before that it was on notre-dame!
The only other scientology related place was the
celebrety center located on st-denis in the eighties!
As for CHARLES MANSON he read the dianetics book
while in prison but obviously he didn't learn anything
from it cause he later murdered polanski's wife
but he never set a foot in a church of scientology!
The fact is the church accepts anyone who wants
to be part of it,so a lot of people think the church
will do all the helping for them.A lot of people
come to the church after taking drugs from psychiatres
for many years!
The reason for more lies and hate towards scientology
comes from the fear of sp's that thrive on the
pharmaceutical industrie will lose control on the
mind control they have on the global population!
The stupidest thing is the unauthaurised author
of the tom cruise book who says tom used L. RON HUBBARDS sperm
how nonsense is that for a religion who beleives
in the spiritual enteties and reicarnation!!!The body is a mere tool!!

There are so many beautiful actions done by scientologists
Like Nancy Cartwright(the voice of bart simpson, chuckie in rugrats)
has financed with her own money an organisation called happy house
which distributed 60 million copies of the book THE WAY TO HAPPINESS
(it's a non-religious moral code)and started a youth center
in NORTHRIDGE,CALIFORNIA!
Anyway read the dianetics book than attack it if you
want but know what the hell your talking about
instead on relying on non-sense on the internet
be useful protest against war, poverty, bad radio
s.u.v's,oil,poverty....peace(all of this just my personal opinion
and in 34 years i'venever seen any scientologist
be aggressive what so-ever!
I'm feeling family guy right now..

I think you should brush up on your FACTS, because Charles Manson spent about 150 hours and was registered as being a "Clear" level, and even owned his own E-meter to help him practice scientology and get new recruits.

But right, go ahead and deny facts.

And if you'd watch the videos, you WOULD see a scientologist almost get violent and attack a BBC reported because he didn't like or want to answer questions about the "organisation"

No, but a PR man for a "religion" on the other hand IS suposed to represent the whole "religion" and be the example that the public is supposed to sympathise with.

I have no sound on my computer so ill get back
on the reporter thing later!
But as for manson well maybe he did
go to the church but getting clear
takes quite a lot of time so i doubt
it!But the fact is he said he read
the book in jail among other books.
people just go to way back to try and
discredit the church!
There have been lots of undercovers
infiltrating the church to create
trouble!
They even tried to stop the organisation
after L RON HUBBARDS death saying
that he had prescription drugs in his body!
I'm feeling family guy right now..

Well it's important to distinguish between the individuals and the organisation and I don't see much of that going on here on either side. Anonymous refers to the individual believers as victims and is attacking the organisation. Whether they are actually victims or not is for themselves to decide. I think that one does not have to like or support the leadership to be a believer. If what I'm reading on that leadership is true well they deserve to be jailed and more if you ask me.

It's also equally important to distinguish what things are SUPPOSED to be and what they actually are. You can't make any points out of "supposed". "Supposed" can never have any logical weight. It's like saying "Since you lied about that now it must have come true". It just doesn't make any sense.
I'm feeling bored right now..
