SkyNews has shown the first attack of Anonymous agsinst the Church of Scientology.
Anonymous is a collective of hackers and internet users of many different fields (including the /b/ section of 4Chan, and makers of the LOLCATS). They have vowed war on Scientology last week and have already started by taking down their main website. Anti-Scientology Anonymous Manifesto: Sky News Segment:

This is insane. Scientology as an organization has done some pretty fucking questionable things, but I think people are taking it too far and turning it into some kind of krystalnact against anyone associated with the religion.
How would we feel if businesses owned by muslims or jehova's witnesses were listed on websites because someone disagrees with their views. This is akin to harassment. Attack the religion not the people.

A Reader's Digest article of May 1980 quoted Hubbard as saying in the 1940s "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion."
[ en.wikipedia.org ] he made it for the money and it worked. might be a good plan if I am ever broke, someday... ;)

All religions are this insane, the Scientology stuff isn't any less crazy than the teachings of the abrahamic religions.
When you have freedom of religion you get stuff like this. Scientology uses pro-religious laws like tax exemption and anti-discrimination laws to help its cause. You can thank the freedom of religion crowd for that.

The freedom to be atheist/agnostic was never granted in many countries such as the USA, which has the word 'God' ingrained in culture so much you can't avoid it.
Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if the people who wrote the old testament were simply the L Ron Hubbards of their time. His fictional explanation of the universe is just as looney as anything in the old book.

Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Most of the addresses given are part of the documents leaked from the Chruch and are 4-5 years old. Most of these places don't exist anymore.
And I'm glad Basdini mentioned the freedom of speech (first amendment). Anonymous is going against the Church of Scientology EXACTLY because they've censored anti-church comments on Youtube videos with "comment censored due to violation of the Laws of the Church of Scientology". Basically saying, they're above the United States' First Amendment. I see all of this as terribly funny. If they can do it, more power to them. Of course, I personally think that Scientology is a lesser evil, compared, for instance, to the Catholic Church. The pope, however, does not have Tom Cruise's level of insanity.

Well, let's encourage Anonymous to continue their crusade when they're done with this.
Honestly, I don't think Anonymous will do too much damage. The Church's "Fair Play" enforcement is as, if not scarier than all of this.
