last night i watched again my vhs copy of "4 little girls" from spike lee. it's a 100 some minutes '97 documentary.. i think it's a hbo production.

story short: in september 1963 a bombing occured at a birmingham "black" church killing 4 14yo black girls. birmingham, alabama was one of the place the most segregated in usa. it is disgusting to see how people were threated. it's make me so upset. and it is incredible to think that happened less than 50 years ago! but its also inspired me to see this community living and not accepting it. the doc. included incredible footages from protest and archives about how whites and "colored" were living.
i like spike lee when he comes up with films like that!

very sad to see the info that it only "grossed $130,146 In its opening weekend".

juno

j'ai adore les references culturelles et musicales! i mean it's pretty rare i got to see a homage to herschell gordon lewis and sonic youth..ect

la cinematographie est artsy. j'ai aussi beaucoup aime le rythme du film. les jokes(dialogues) sont bien construites.. i already liked what this director (jason reitman) did with "thank you for smoking" in 2005..

je suis folle d'ellen page. haha jason bateman(arrested development) is amazing. micheal cera is adorable.

ps; ok i admit it, sometimes i'm emo.
I'm feeling hitched right now..

Forbidden Kingdom

Oh boy. This was as good as Freddy vs Jason. Another kind of fan service and I ate it up; I even asked for seconds.

Jackie Chan reprising his Wong Fei Hung, Drunken Master fighting style against Jet Li's Fong Sai-Yuk, Shaolin style.

A bit too Americanized in certain scenes but overall, the fights were uber-awesome and the story is based on the old folklore story, "Journey into the West".

Seeing Jet Li as the Monkey King = Priceless.

Sweeney Todd: I guess I still don't like musicals all that much, I didn't enjoy this movie too much. It was dark but in a less fun way, and too much gore... but kinda funny though. I've seen better from Burton!

^^ Saw Harold and Kumar 2, too. Hits and misses but was generally good. It can never surpass the original but the Neil Patrick Harris jokes were awesome.

Deathnote (the anime)

Not really a movie, a 37 part series. Shows what can happen when anime writers focus more on plot development then eye-candy. It's about a highschool kid that finds a 'deathnote' on the ground, which was dropped there by a shinigami who has become bored. This note book can be used as a tool to eliminate anyone who's name is written in it, in anyway detailed (provided it's plausible). The kid then slowly develops a god complex and plays one of the most convoluted (in a good way) cat and mouse games w/ a free-lance child prodigy who's a hired gun for Interpol.

Death Note was totally the best anime I've seen in years. There's that short stretch around 14-18 I think that focuses more on the group of people that was boring, but the rest of the show.. fuuuuuck!

I don't think I've ever seen a show that had you so on the edge of your seat every episode.

I love the concept of the whole thing.. The book, and the moral dilema of what to do with it if you find it..

I know I'd totally end up doing something like what Kira did, but probably on a much grander scale.

Currently going through the uncut version of the Dawn of the Dead remake. Man I love zombies.
