naw you can use the m-box2 with anything,not just protools.


you are wrong....

if you want to use any other software using the mbox, you have to rewire it in protools...

or you might be able to use it using the special digidesign asio driver to run other applications, but check out how many people are complaining about the stability....then think again about getting an mbox for non protools software

I'm actually liking the mbox, its compatible with anything guys, it also has jacks for live recording aswell, incase you want to do that type of thing. It's acutally resonably proced too. just my two cents.

the protools cards generally work with all software... You don't have to use protools.. BUT I wouldn't buy the mbox unless you plan on using protools, as it is more expensive than similar offerings.

madforbrad: I never heard about mastering engineers using unbalenced cables, but in a shitty apartment and not a treated studio with proper wiring it would probably be best to go with balenced.

the reasoning is that balanced cables tend to roll off on higher frequencies more readily and from what a read , alot of balanced systems tend to have an extra amplification stage which adds distortion.
