There are 6*10^23 hydrogen atoms in 1 gram of hydrogen. This is called Avogadros Number. The mass of the Sun is 2*10^33 grams. There are about 5*10^9 solar masses in the Galaxy (some uncertainty here due to dark matter). There may be about 10^9 galaxies in the Universe (this is the least known figure in this calculation). If you multiply these numbers together you get the number of atoms in the Universe. |
