| I'm not sure what Detroit techno you've heard - but I'd highly recommend checking out Drexciya and Aux 88. If you can dig up anything on the Teknotika label - that shit is golden. The DJ Valium record on there (Running In October) is classic... and GG Galaxy's Invation ep is tight as all hell. |

| some of the late 80s material ain't that solid (exhibit a: my copy of True Faith's You Can't Deny The Bass - which features Jeff Mills and Mike Banks)... but things changed considerably after that...
here are a few ideas for 1990-1996 techno...
for some quality old-school techno... check out early releases by the following...
Todd Sines (x-trak era material), Carl Craig (Acid Wash Conflict!), Mike Dearborn... if you like cuts like The Bells - then I'd also advise checking out Rob Hood's material on the M-Plant label (especially the Moveable Parts ep)... Kenny Larkin and Shawn Deeson have their moments as well. The two Detroit Techno City 12"s on 430 West are kind of essential listening... as are the bulk of the Underground Resistance releases (the City Of Fear ep is smokin')...
from across the pond Acardipane and Casseau are a couple of names to keep an eye out for... Marc Acardipane is responsable for a lot of what came out on PCP and its various sublabels. His work as The Mover is particularly intense... Danny Casseau cut some seriously intense material for the Re-load label out of Belgium under pseudonyms like Argonic, Atom-X, Trax-X... he also released on Future Galactic - which put out some nightmarishly hard techno. Most of the Re-load catalog is worth a listen, actually... if you ever see any kicking around... Same goes for R&S from the same period... even the not-so great records have their moments. |

| btw - it should say Sean Deason... I was pretty exhausted when I posted that.
The Probe label was great, too... some of Hawtin's heaviest/darkest material (as Circuit Breaker) - alongside great records by Public Energy (Speedy J), Teste (Himadri + Huren), Chris Sattinger, Fred Gianelli... |

| btw... Carl Craig is cool and all - but I was fuckin' exhausted when I posted early... Acid Wash Conflict is actually by Claude Young (on the 7th City label)... and it's pretty sweet.
