let's say he needed the notes for a remix of Abba's "Dancing Queen" ? huh?

Or Ac/dc's "Highway To Hell"? What then huh?

Thems some tough tunes to emulate...

Not if you look up the guitar chords, you can get them as either a tab for the individual finger placement on the strings/frets, or just a file that lists the chords and how long they're played/what order..

Pretty much all you're gonna find as midi is either radio-po(o)p music or video game themes. You'll find some classics (like some ACDC, ZZ Top, Zepplin, etc), but other than that you're really not going to find much.

do what most people do, listen to the track and get the basic notes down on your midi keyboard or in your sequencer...
I realize I am not answering your question but ultimately you won't be downloading midi files, trust me.
I'm feeling wicked cool right now..

fuck you guys suck, i found hundreds of good midi files, everything from video game themes, to tom greens BUM BUM song, jamiroquoi, venga boys, coolio, the fugees, beastie boys, michael jackson, nirvana, metallica, DR Dre, eifel 65, big pun, the list goes on and on.

almost everything out there, is sumwhere online as a midi file.

i used to download them, to slap on shitty websites i was werking on to play in the backround, but have used them for remixing and just taking a look at the madness of the compositions.

sure its cheating, to steal the notes right from the file, but fuck you and the piano lessons you rode in on.
still gotta be dope to make a shitty song sound good!

lazy?! because we DON'T download midi files? because we make the patterns ourselves and dare I say actually create something NEW!?
I doubt you mean that.

well you guys are saying u cant find anything besides pop midi's, and there's no chance in HELL that you would ever stumble upon the rasputin midi, so to say such a thing, i assumed it came from personal experience...

anyways, they are good to have, educational and just fun to listen to in your media player.

and as far as remixing goes, sum of my favorite hip hop tunes come from samples. actually like 90% my favs, come from crate diggers.
i know people that use 95% of samples to make thier beats with and they are fuckin geniuses! depends what you do with them.
Update » Choda_Bean wrote on Wed Apr 25, 2007 @ 3:28pm
its actually funner to sample the mp3 or vinyl or wtv, and make something dope, and the listenner has no clue what the original sample is from.
Update » Choda_Bean wrote on Wed Apr 25, 2007 @ 3:31pm
you diss sampling, and record hunting, you diss a large culture of producers.

sampling when used properly is amazing, and midi files are good for remixes, but really you're extremely limited on what you can find.

I mean, I couldn't find a midi of Voodoo People to make a ring tone with.

Well, at least I've got the Final Fantasy victory as a ringtone!
