Nord Lead 2x

Hey all, this is meant strictly as a discussion. I bought myself a Nord Lead 2x back in the summer of 2006 and I've used it so rarely. This synth is easily worth 1000$ and i feel horrible that it is sitting in my closet, luckily not gathering dust though due to it's protective case.
I gave myself an ultimatum a month ago, that if I did not begin using it regularly, that I should sell it and at LEAST let someone make good use of it. It's in perfect working condition but I am so accustomed to VSTs, that you can multiply and use SO easily. Setting up a hardware synth alone takes upwards of 10 minutes if you do it everything perfectly the first time, I don't have a permanent place for it so I can't set it up and leave it. I feel guilt, massive guilt, this fucking awesome synth is being ignored and totally wasting space, time and money. I want your opinion mainly on what you would do, would have done. I mean, let's say i get a studio set up that gives me enough room to have it out and ready to use at a moment's notice, I can still only use it for one midi track at a time. If I render the audio to use it for another midi track, i can't modify the pattern anymore, nor can I create new ones. Are hardware synths realy as unflexible as I perceive them? is there some way I can get my synth to respond to multiple midi tracks? (i doubt it) What do I do? :\ I mean, eBayer's are gladly paying 900$ easy for this.

maybe you should make your sound, and record only a c3 note, and make your paterns with the note via the piano roll... that one way, but its not as powerfull as playing on the real synth!

Indeed, like, I am debating with myself whether doing something like that really requires a hard synth. The original sounds are ALL crap, i mean, you really have to play with them a lot before they sound decent, and then all that work to record a little wav sample with which I have no more control? That alone would not warrant me keeping it around. I mean, in that case I could record all my fav sounds and then sell it, cause I'd never need to replay those recorded bits using the synth itself.
It's my fault for not knowing exactly how everything works in the first place but I have so much trouble just plugging it in and setting it up to record/play through Ableton. Getting it synced and into performance mode is frickin chinese to me at this point too.

yeah, i use vsts and sample only too, i dont even have an audio card wich lets me plug synths or something, in fact, i dont have an audio card at all, its on-board!
but fast like that it was the only thing i could think about, but still, better use vsts, cant you use it as a midi controller? you probably allready have one.... fait le laminer pi acroche le sur ton mur!=P

apparantly giving unused synths to br34th3 brings karma and prosperity.... I found that in a fortune cookie once.. I SWEAR!

hmmm, if you want mike I'll teach you how to use it properly again, I wouldn't completely ditch it yet though...
Remember, when we set up the synths I'm pretty sure I had your synth set up as the second one with midi thru, and I didn't have a midi box to connect your midi out to the sound card. Also I'm pretty sure something is fucked with your version of ableton, cuz we got my synth and everything to work perfectly with frank's computer like....3-4 days ago. I wouldn't ditch it just yet though, you've got a great tool in front of you and I think you just need to get used to using it. Btw there is a way to get your synth to respond to multiple midi tracks. I'm just not too sure how to do it, cuz I like to bump everything to audio anyways. I end up having to bump most of my vst's to audio anyways, and I honestly don't find vst's that much "easier" to use. Anways man, if after a bit more experimentation you don't like it and want to get rid of it, i might consider taking it off your hands. That is granted you take the gay happy hardcore beads off it lmao! Speaking of that did you try taking the fuckers off yet?
I'm feeling bummed right now.. |

lol nope not yet...
I figure I'll give myself a chance to use it this summer when I move into a new place, hopefully I'll have some room to set it up permanent styles, that way I'll HAVE to use it. If I don't use it by August, i am selling it. It's still worth 800$ easy so as much as I'd like to 'give' it away, I can't. If I do sell it, I'll post it up to ravewave first to give y'all first dibs. But yeah, Pat, we'll get together this summer, and work it out. I own Ableton now legally so if it's going to work ever, it's going to work now.

Zed, you could do like Infected Mushroom and bring your Nord Lead on stage to pretend you're playing it while everything is presequenced in Cubase.
I'm feeling yay right now.. |

I mean, in another year I might not be able to get 1000$ for it anymore
