| Contrast ratio is the measurement of the difference in light intensity between the brightest white and the darkest black. The higher the contrast ratio the better the colour information will appear against a darker background. For example 1000:1 contrast ratio gives a better colour representation against a darker background then say 500:1 contrast ratio.

| yeah it's an LG. i was just wondering because samsung were selling some for $149, but the contrast ratio was 450:1 and I didn't understand the whole concept. |

| I saw an LG 19 inch with 1400:1 contrast ratio for 300$ but i thought it was a mistake, I didnt realise that contrast ratio existed. LG also guarantees no dead pixels. I'm gonna get an LG. |
