I am weary of these new products. Like eye laser surgery, I'd rather wait a full generation and witness the developing effects before partaking into anything. |

laser eye surgery has been worked on since 1987, the tech is almost 20 years old.

And a generation is 33 years.
It's still too early. I want to see the report of a young man who received an eye surgery and lived a full generation without any developing problems. I may be paranoid, but eye contacts are not that troublesome to me. And to return to the subject, most of those "funkpills" scare me right away. How can you create such mimicking effects "legally"? |

Contacts fuck your eyes up as well. Wearing contacts for years flattens out your eye, makes you unable to wear them anymore, and makes laser surgery or glasses your only options.

No idea about that. I've had contacts for the past ten years without problems. I don't doubt it, however; I'll eventually have to do something about it. |

I've been wearing contacts for 6 or 7 years, they haven't flattened my eye and I am still able to wear them. My eyes are perfectly fine.

2 of my uncles, on the other hand, who've had contacts for over 25 years, can't wear them anymore and have to wear glasses, as does my grandmother who's had them for way longer, and one of my mother's ex husbands, who'd worn some for over 30 years before he couldn't wear them anymore.
Take a look at the wiki for contacts. I know, wikipedia isn't always the most reliable sources of information, but the list is at least something to consider. Complications due to contact lens wear are relatively common, affecting roughly 5% of contact lens wearers each year.
Excessive wear of contact lenses, particularly overnight wear, is associated with the most serious safety concerns.[2] Problems associated with contact lens wear may affect the eyelid, the conjunctiva, the various layers of the cornea, and even the tear film that covers the outer surface of the eye. Eyelid: Ptosis Conjunctiva: Contact dermatitis Giant papillary conjunctivitis Superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis Cornea: Epithelium Corneal abrasion Corneal erosion Corneal ulcer Hypoxia Stroma Infection and keratitis Bacteria Protozoa: Acanthamoeba Fungal: Fusarium Contact lens acute red eye (CLARE) Keratoconus Endothelium Update » Screwhead wrote on Fri Dec 29, 2006 @ 12:25pm fucking stupid image code.

was it because they weren't taking care of them properly or was it an effect of responsible but prologned contact use? I'm guessing atfter 25 or 30 years they knew what they were doing but gotta ask anyway.
