Promoter Message Board

I just had this idea, and I talked about it to a few promoters who seem to be interested.

We should have a promoter message board on ravewave. This would be a board that only people with a promoter profile could access. This way, we could discuss issues such as venues and party dates without having the whole scene know about it. I think something like that would really help promoters to work together, and not against each others.

I like the idea. Although I wouldn't allow EVERY SINGLE promoter into the group.

See, having a promoter status on this website doesn't mean the person is actually one, or an active one... or hell, I'll just say it loud: a good one.
So by using an "invite only" system you'd be minimizing any leakage of delicate information.

Sure this idea will get promoters closer (I really wish them to do so...) but it's still going to be up to them to open up.

an invite only system would probably end up in crazy drama. I'd say every active promoter should be invited, but people who can't use this in a mature way should get banned from this particular board. Still, people deserve a chance.

How would you go about identifying the loudmouths?

It's impossible to make something like that 100% leakage free. Loudmouths are usually heard pretty quickly though, and can be dealt with. Still, such a section exist on ravezone, and I haven't heard of major leakage problems on their part. I think we can expect the more experienced promoters to put some order in the whole thing.

now that I think about it... why can't the promoter just call each other? I mean you guys make it seem like you have real issues to discuss right now! don't let the internet hold you back :)

We don't have anymore issues to talk about right now, but it's always good to have a place to discuss dates and such. When there is a bigger issue, it's better to be able to contact everyone at once and have everyone give their opinion. Also, it's a chance to learn from each others, share contacts, etc.

Secrecy makes sure no damage is done to any promoter's reputation. Plus, raves aren't as exciting when everyone knows everything. I also think it's important that we be able to talk business without having every single raver throwing in his opinion.

Raves are better WITH the sketchyness... I find it adds to the effect personaly.

Le-D: Don't you WANT raver's opinions? Not all of em obviously... but they matter right?

I do want raver's opinions, but they are things promoters should discuss by themselves. Hype is created by not knowing everything in advance. There are things, like choosing party dates without interfering with other parties, that don't require everyone to know and post their opinion.

For the record, I do take a lot of time to ask Ravers what they think. I just don't do it here, as I don't think the people posting on ravewave truly represent the majority of the rave scene. I'd rather talk to them in person, at parties. :)

Maybe it "affects you personnally" but that doesn't mean you gotta make other people uncomfortable. Raves are definetly NOT better with more sketchyness...

It might be a good idea.. but there are WAY to many promotors on this board.. everyone who's thrown a b-day party will have access.. so maybe the invite idea is not a bad one !!

yeah, good point. We don't want everyone who's thrown a house party under some made up production name in there. This is for the serious promoters.
